Elvis Costello Caps Apple iPhone Unveiling Event

Elvis Costello Apple
The innovators at Apple unveiled not one, but two new iPhone handsets this week, and they enlisted the legendary Elvis Costello to help with the proceedings.

The surprise guest walked out on stage at the end of the lengthy event, which also covered a new Apple store in Palo Alto, Calif., and a new operating system.

“How ya’ll doing?” Costello asked the audience. “Wow, that’s a lot of fancy stuff (in reference to all the new products that were revealed). I feel underdressed. I’m just on my old Fender guitar up here. I’m sorry, can I say ‘Fender’ here?”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Fender signature artist then pulled out three songs, beginning with Nick Lowe’s “Peace, Love and Understanding” and a new song that he recently recorded with the Roots.

Costello also played “Radio Soul,” admitting to the crowd, “When I first got into the business, I thought radio was great. This was my imaginary song about radio before I learned how foul it is.”
