According to several reports, two Radiohead tracks dating back to the mid 1980s – before guitarist Jonny Greenwood joined the band – have recently been posted online.
Stemming from YouTube user klootme, the tracks claim to be from On a Friday, the original name for the group that would become Radiohead.
When asked if Thom Yorke could be verified as the singer to these college-rock staples, klootme responded, “Absolutely … My husband was given the tape by the band when he was at school with them. They were all good friends. We used to go and see them play in Oxford at Jerico Tavern and The Old Fire-station.”
Judge for yourself if these are really recordings from the guys’ days at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, England, and note the smooth saxophone solos:
Radiohead recently announced five European shows to add on to their 2012 tour that includes 10 North American dates.
The band will play:
June 30 – Rome, Hyppodrome Capanelle
July 1 – Florence, Parco Delle Cascine
July 3 – Bologna, Piazza Maggioara
July 4 – Udine, Villa Manin Codroipo
July 6 – Berlin, Wuhlheide
