Even at the age of 74, legendary guitarist Dick Dale isn’t resting on his laurels.
In a recent story on GalvaNews.com (Illinois), the Fender signature artist talked about his desire to keep touring despite a continuing battle with colon cancer and diabetes.
Dubbed “The Cancer Warrior” by several doctors, Dale was originally diagnosed with colon cancer in 1964 at the height of his career and survived it, only to have the disease re-emerge in 2008. Still, he is currently on tour throughout the month of October.
The left-handed-playing Dale has been enshrined in the Surfer’s Walk of Fame and inducted into the Musicians Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Nashville.
