Cornell Earns Golden Globe Nomination

The nominations for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced Thursday morning, and Chris Cornell is in the running for Best Original Song.

Cornell penned a tender number titled “The Keeper” that appears at the end of Machine Gun Preacher, starring Gerard Butler.

Cornell is up against Lady Gaga and Elton John; Sinead O’Connor; Mary J. Blige; and Madonna.

Machine Gun Preacher is the inspirational true story of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who undergoes an astonishing transformation and finds an unexpected calling as the savior of hundreds of kidnapped and orphaned children.
