Coldplay Unleash the Haunting New ‘Oceans’ on BBC Radio 1

Coldplay’s upcoming album Ghost Stories is due out next month, and we have already heard a few new songs, like “Magic” and “Another’s Arms.”

But the band isn’t stopping there, as they recently stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge for a performance of the chilled-out “Oceans.”  With drummer Will Champion tapping out a spacey beat on drum pads, guitarist Jonny Buckland adds ethereal guitar wahs in the background, complimenting frontman Chris Martin’s plaintive croons.

To celebrate the May album launch, NBC is airing a special titled Coldplay: Ghost Stories on May 18 (7 p.m. ET/PT). The show was recorded in front of an 800-person crowd in Los Angeles in March and features the band in a 360-degree stage. In the meantime, watch Coldplay run through “Oceans” below.
