Eminem’s performance will open Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards show, which kicks off live from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre at 8/9 C.
Eminem’s eight nominations are second only to Lady Gaga, who leads the way with 13 nods. We’ll be cheering on Fender-wielding band Paramore, who are up for Best Rock Video for “Ignorance.” Frontwoman Hayley Williams was also nominated for her “Airplanes” collaboration with B.o.B, which is up for Video of the Year.
Paramore, along with Drake, Mary J. Blige, Swizz Beatz, Bruno Mars, Florence and the Machine, Usher, Linkin Park, B.o.B. and Justin Bieber will perform at the show.
From Madonna swapping spit with Britney Spears in 2003, to Spears shockingly bad opening performance in 2007, to Kanye West’s heinous ambush during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech a year ago, the VMAs are always packed with controversy. Add to that comedian and “Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea” author Chelsea Handler, who will host the VMAs and there’s sure to be something worth talking about Monday morning.
