Australian-based music blog IHeartGuitarBlog.com sat with blues legend Buddy Guy during his recent visit down under for the 24th Annual Byron Bay Bluesfest.
During the interview, Guy shared some interesting anecdotes about his beloved signature Fender (polka dot) Strat.
He told the blog his favorite memory with his Strat occurred during an African tour, where he had his guitar strapped to the top of his car. Before he knew it, a strong wind gust blew the Strat away.
“I said ‘that’s the end of my guitar,’” he told IHeartGuitarBlog. “We turned around, went back and got it, and I had to jump in the street to keep a truck from running over it.”
Little did Guy know his axe had nine lives.
“I picked it up, and it had one key out of tune,” said Guy. “The E-string was a little flat. And until somebody stole it from me it was still good!”
