Slipstream has garnered scores of positive reviews.

“The singer’s best album since 1975… Her slide-guitar playing throughout Slipstream is superb, and she slips her purring voice into every song like a letter going into an envelope addressed just to you,” wrote Entertainment Weekly‘s Ken Tucker.

NPR’s Ann Powers said, “Raitt’s gift for expressing emotions on a real, human scale is what makes her so beloved. On Slipstream, she takes on some of the hardest, and she doesn’t fail us now.”

And in Rolling Stone, Will Hermes gave the album a four-star review, commenting, “A loose and adventurous reminder of everything she does well… it’s mood music with a razor edge, pain fronting as bliss, delivered by a vet who understands that the blues are often about just that.”
