Bob Mould of Hüsker Dü and Sugar fame has enjoyed a rather busy year, having released memoir See a Little Light: The Trial of Rage and Melody and new solo album Silver Age. 2012 also marked the 20th anniversary re-release of Sugar’s 1992 album Copper Blue.
In support of both album releases, Mould has been playing a series of two-set shows this fall. The first set featured Mould and his current band playing Copper Blue front to back, followed by a second set that showcased Silver Age material alongside other Sugar, Husker Du, and solo cuts.
While Mould’s 2009 album Life and Time was of a more somber and reflective vein, Silver Age is an intense and aggressive effort that calls to mind some of Hüsker Dü’s latter material.
