Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro collected the most prestigious honor at the 20th annual Kerrang! Awards on Thursday night, winning best album for Opposites.
Frontman Simon Neil told the BBC that winning best album was “mega exciting,” and that it also helps reinforce the band’s decision to put out a double album.
“It gives us a bit of faith in ourselves and faith in music listeners that they will give things time if they think it’s good enough, so it’s very exciting,” said Neil.
Opposites topped the UK Albums Charts in early February, marking the band’s first number one album.
Metal pioneers Iron Maiden, who are headlining this weekend’s Download festival, were honored with the Kerrang! inspiration award, while Queen’s Brian May received the Kerrang! service to rock award.
