Bass thumping master and Fender signature artist Marcus Miller graces the cover of Slap Masters, a special limited summer issue presented by Bass Player magazine.
Miller appears holding his signature Fender Jazz Bass, and gives Bass Player the scoop on his groove-laden techniques in his song, “Power.”
“Power is built around the opening bass lick,” Miller tells Bass Player. “Someone told me recently, ‘Whenever you play, you sound hungry.’ I always think of that when I play this tune because it has that hungry, New York-rooted sound.”
The magazine is packed with tons of slap bass tips and tricks from the world’s most accomplished bass players, including Fender-wielding bassists Chuck Rainey, Mark Adams and Freddie Washington.
