60th Anniversary P Bass Notes & Trivia: 1991

Fender celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Precision Bass in 1991. The Custom Shop introduced three new P Bass models to mark the occasion. What were they?

Updated with answer: 40th Anniversary Deluxe Precision Bass, a 1951 reissue Precision and a limited edition James Jamerson model.

They may have not have won anything, but this Los Angeles band offered a searing performance remotely from London’s Wembley Stadium to the audience of the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards.

The group was nominated for two awards – Best Video From A Film and Best Metal/Hard Rock – with one song, but the one they performed was a racy remake of a Wings classic, featuring a future Fender signature artist on bass.

What was the band, what was the song, and who is the P-Bass aficionado?

Updated with Answer: Guns N’ Roses, “Live and Let Die,” Duff McKagan
