Sheryl Crow’s Miles From Memphis: Live At The Pantages Theatre to Hit DVD & Blu-Ray
Eagle Rock Entertainment will simultaneously release DVD and Blu-Ray copies of Miles From Memphis: Live At The Pantages Theatre by Sheryl Crow on June 7.
In early 2009, Grammy-Award winning artist Sheryl Crow elected to cover new ground in her recording career by making an album rooted in the southern soul and R&B music she grew up on in Kennett, Mo., a town approximately 100 miles from Memphis, Tenn.
Crow, who enlisted producers Doyle Bramhall II and Justin Stanley for the project, found the experience to be enlightening.

“The initial writing process was a challenge and has since opened a lot of new creative avenues for me,” writes Crow in the DVD liner notes. “The recording process was a blast. Doyle and Justin put together a tremendous band, each member handpicked for the sound we had in our minds. Most of the stuff was cut live on the floor and I was afforded the opportunity to write and truly sing again in an organic manner that was a refreshing departure from my more recent recordings.”
In fall 2010, Crow and her powerhouse 9-piece band, affectionately coined “The Thieves,” hit the road in support of the finished product, 100 Miles from Memphis. The show at the Pantages Theatre swings through the best tracks from the record, and reinvigorates fan favorites with a soulful Memphis flavor. And there’s a little Motown in the mix too, with Crow’s 1994 megahit “All I Wanna Do” extended with a jam on Marvin Gaye’s classic “Got To Give It Up”, and a joyous rendition of the Jackson 5′s “I Want You Back”. The 18-track DVD is also peppered with other hits such as “Everyday is a Winding Road,” “Soak up the Sun,” and a powerful gospel take on closer “I Shall Believe.”
Opened in 1930, the Pantages Theatre is an art-deco masterpiece. The palatial Hollywood treasure provides an elegant backdrop for Crow and her band.
“It was a very special night, playing with this incredible band in this wonderful venue, and I’m so happy to be able to share it with all my fans around the world,” said Crow.
Bonus features include a special behind-the-scenes bonus feature of Crow and her band, and a soundcheck of two songs—“Eye To Eye” and “Stop” which were not in the main show.
