Political outrage and punk rock have gone hand in fist since the early days of the Sex Pistols and the Clash, a tradition that Los Angeles-based punk supergroup Black President is proud to carry on in the 21^st century.

Formed in 2006, Black President is a veritable hardcore who’s-who currently composed of Goldfinger guitarist Charlie Paulson, who founded the band with since-departed Circle Jerks/Bad Religion guitarist Greg Hetson, vocalist/rhythm guitarist Christian Martucci (of Dee Dee Ramone’s touring band), bassist Jason Christopher and drummer Roy Mayorga. Paulson and Martucci started writing songs together with the idea of blending the sonic fury of punk and the passion of late ’60s soul (“If we could sound like Motorhead covering ‘Ball of Confusion’ by the Temptations, we would be happy,” Paulson has said).

Black President hit the road in 2006 and 2007, holding its own with heavyweights such as Bad Brains, Guttermouth, the Germs, Suicidal Tendencies and a stint on the 2007 Vans Warped tour. With eponymous debut disc Black President scheduled for release in September 2008 and a full touring schedule, Black President is poised to make good on its campaign promises.
