I just started playing guitar again last week. I bought a used strat from someone on craigslist. I went to go pick up music at a local music store and asked a guy to play a few guitars for me to show me the difference in Squiers, Fenders, Gibson and Epiphones. I wasn't looking to buy a guitar until he pointed the butterscotch blonde one that I just purcashed. I can't really play much but asked him to play it and was blown away. I had him play some songs that I knew well and it was amazing. I have taken it home and played (what I can). I had another seasoned guitarist (Strat American player) I know play it and he was shocked. I bought this one color in particular because my dad built one from the ground up, so it has sentimental value to me. The tele sounds bright and is able to span the spectrum of music and adapts well. I gave it a features rating of 3 due to the Tele's simplistic design, not because there is anything missing just that it is a very simple guitar. I love it and if anything I will potentialy mod it but don't see the reason to replace it for a more expensive one. Best bang for the buck guitar that I know of.

I just bought mine this past Tuesday at my local Guitar Center and I could not be happier. I had been playing an Epiphone Les Paul for the better part of a year and I wanted something that was lighter on my back along with a change in sound as well. I was considering a Stratocaster but I saw this on the wall and had heard so much about it, so I decided to give it a try. I plugged it into a Fender FM 25R and was immediately blown away at the quality of it. Mine according to the serial number, was made in January 2013 which pleased me very well. It just goes to show that the quality of Squier and their products have improved immensely since moving production to China. I love the sound of the stock pickups and don't see any reason to swap them out at all. Some folks have complained about the stock 3 way pup switch being flimsy but I haven't had any issues with it at all. The only thing I'm going to change on it, is the bridge. I'm not a fan of the 6 saddle design on the top load bridge, so I have a 3 Barrel saddle topload bridge on order which will make restringing much easier. Other than that, I absolutely love this bad boy and will be using it with my band. Mind you, I'm 54 years old and have been playing for 40 years and this has to be one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played.

I have been playing for 41 years and have owned a lot of Vintage Fender and Gibson Guitars. I bought this guitar used at GC for $95 because I liked the neck and the blonde body. I replaced all the hardware, switches, pots, nut, tuners and bridge saddles. First I put Seymour Duncan Antiquity 50s pickups in it and a bone nut. I then replaced the box switch with a real Fender style switch. Then I put in quality pots. I found locking tuners at GFS for $32 and reamed out the tuner holes to 10mm. I had this guitar professionally set up and when the tech finished with it, he was surprised on how well it played, sounded and the neck, which is satin poly. The frets were good and the neck was straight. After playing this guitar next two several Fender Teles I realized that I had a keeper. I could not beat this guitar out of tune and the SD Antiquity pickups were the best I have heard. I had way less into this guitar than I would if I had bought a MIM or American Tele and it was modded to exactly how I wanted my guitar to be. Though it doesn't have a string through body, didn't make a bit of difference to my overall tone or sustain. The bridge mounting holes are pretty much propriety, but that didn't matter. I swapped out the saddles for higher nickel parts and kept the base plate the same. I cannot tell you how much I love this guitar. The down side is that it has very little resale value, but I didn't mod it to sell. I modded it as an experiment that turned out better than I could have expected. The neck is a fairly chunky C shape and the body is Alder. Not much more than I can ask in an inexpensive guitar. If you are willing to swap out parts the body, neck and bridge plate are a great base to start with. This is a very much underrated guitar.... I love it.
So, I've played this guitar for about 2 months i think. It was from a friend. The quality/price ratio is great in fact. For the price, it was a good surprise. The tuners hold the tuning well. The pickups...well i liked a lot the neck one, but the bridge pickup was just too treble for me. But hey, i suppose that is what you should expect from a Tele. I've also played a Fender Classic Player Tele and it was the same thing. The input jack also seems reasonable. The pickup switch is very fragile. But now is when the thing turns interesting... this is a great mod platform! The body is from Alder and it seems as solid as a Fender; the neck and fretboard are so polished and well-crafted that i would believe it was a Fender neck; the metallic red and the butterscotch colors look damn great. You want a Fender Telecaster? This is the wise way, buy this guitar, replace the pickups (in my opinion only the bridge pickup, but that's a question of opinion), electronics, switches, tuners et voilá! You have a Fender Telecaster! Be happy with it.
This is one of my favorite Squiers. In my job as a writer for Guitar-Muse.com, I test guitars all the time. I live near a Fender dealer, so I test lots of Fenders. Since I'm a Fender guy, that poses no real hardship on me! Anyway, this Affinity Tele is a super value you can sometimes find on sale for $125-$135. Even at MSRP, this Tele is a great buy. It plays like a Tele, sounds like Tele, looks like a Tele... it IS a Tele!
That said, I'm not too fond of the "no-finish" neck although I doubt this would be a big deal in most circles. I have an '88 MIA Strat with the high gloss neck finish and I'm used to it so this flat finish feels a little strange to me. It still plays like a dream. They don't stay in the store long, I'll tell you that.
I bought the nocaster pickups before even having a guitar to put the pups on. Well I did have a good experience modifying another affinity guitar (strat with Texas Special pups) so I bought this one. And long story short this guitar ROARS. I did change pots and pickups on it and it's probably my favorite guitar (I'm just kidding, I love'em both equally). I really love the no finish maple neck and while the tuners aren't the best around, I did have some tuning stability, but I fixed it with a string lube.
It's a great guitar to modify, you'll get a great result and for a couple of hundreds, and the butterscotch blonde finish is awesome!

I purchased this Telecaster and as soon as I got it and plugged it in, I knew I was going to mod it. The pickups are ok but I swapped them for some noiseless pickups. I also swapped the tone pots, switch, and capasitor. After a little setup and these changes this guitar plays and sounds great. This guitar will not accept the Fender neck plate, pick guard, or the Fender bridge because the holes will not line up. This Telecaster is a great buy for someone on a budget.

You can't beat this guitar for the price, reliability, and future resale value.
As soon as you get it, put on new strings, set the pickup heights, and go thru intonation. Ones you play at the store are all gimped up and do not reflect the true sound and feel of this guitar.
BUY IT SOON!!!

When I was ready to move from Acoustic to electric guitar I decided that I was primarily interested in purchasing a telecaster. I did some research and found that the Butter Scotch Blonde Squier Affinity Telecaster was well regarded on tdpri.com. Not bad out of the gate as a Squier guitar but very popular among the modders so that any changes I might want to make down the road I could be sure there was plenty of information available. So, I picked one up and played it for about a year. It has a good weight to it and I really like the smooth neck. There were no issues with fit and finish, but I did end out changing out the pots for 250 ohm ones and I put in a heaftier 4-way switch and heavier gauge strings.

I ordered this Tele so I could set it up like Keith Richards' and have "that" sound. I must say I was more than pleasantly surprised at the tone and I absolutely love the butterscotch blonde color. While the fit and finish is not up to Fender's more expensive models, it is very good and the neck feels incredible. Hey, if you're looking for that Tele Twang but don't want to spend a bundle this guitar is the bomb.

I picked this up at Guitar Center one day because I had some credit and wanted a new guitar. Soon after bringing it home I realized I had a real gem. These are great guitars and anyone who asks me about a starter guitar gets my "Squier Telecaster" speech. It's got great looks, feel and tone. I own 2 MIM Strats and one Deluxe Blackout Telecaster and this guitar holds it's own with any of them.
The only reason I didn't give it straight 5's was that the jackplug was made of fiberboard and broke within a few weeks and I could not get a replacement. Fender tried and sent me the part number they showed but it wasn't really a fit, it was metal and did not conform. No matter I had a tech at my shop just put on a plastic one, easy peasy.
I highly recommend this guitar for anyone looking to get a Tele on a budget. In fact I recommend Squier in general. They are making some great guitars.

I've looked at buying a Tele for a while, but had been focused on a MIM line guitar. However, I was trying to get rid of a another guitar that I owned, and after trying this guitar out in the store, I was blown away by the tone of it and traded the other guitar at a fair loss to get this instead. I'm really happy about the size and shape of the neck, which fits my hands perfectly although I know its pretty small for most people's tastes. The finish on my particular guitar is one of the nicest butterscotch blondes I've ever seen. I wish the neck was not unfinished, but that is a small nitpick for the absolute killer tone, looks and value this guitar provides.
