I was one of the first to own one of the Japanese Squier Strats in all black as shown above, and gigged with it for the best part of 4 years before selling - due to marriage. In that time it only developed one problem, and that was the neck needed re-shimming due to only having 3 bolts holding it in place. Other than that this was the best guitar I have ever ownedeven to this day, it is the one guitar I wish I still owned! It gave m nothing but absolute pleasure to play during the years that I was learning my stage craft - which is now long behind me I might add. The sound was billiant and played like a dream. Anyone considering a good starter guitar need look no further, I would recommend one of these in a heartbeat.
