First off, it is a nice looking guitar. The frets on it are nice and evenly set across the fret board. There's grooves along the length of the frets and fret board. The neck angle is off to where the frets buzz higher up on the neck even set with a good amount of relief on the neck. Ran out of threads on the trem screws trying to get the fret buzz out. I like that the neck is a 12"; that's what I'm used to. The pickups are weak, they have very little output, they're definitely not the noiseless pickups of the past. They're very flat sounding.

Bought this as part of the Boxing Week sale at Long and McQuade in Toronto. It was a bit of an impulse buy as the guitar really caught my eye and seeing that I do not have a Strat with noiseless pickups, thought what the heck.
I have two other Strats (Highway 1 and US Lonestar - both Kijij scores) along with a Classic 50s Tele. I also have a Gibson Les Paul that was, for years, my main stage guitar but in recent years, I find I'm playing Strats almost exclusively.
The Player's Deluxe fits in very nicely and compliments nicely the hot alnicos of the Highway 1 and Texas Specials / Pearly Gates humbucker of the Lonestar. While it doesn't have the "quack" of the Highway 1 or the drive of the Lonestar, it still has an unmistakable single coil sound; it's just more Clapton than SRV. This, of course, makes sense as Clapton used noiseless single coils.
The playability of this guitar is excellent and puts an end to the Mexican vs. US debate - at least for the upgraded MIM Classic and Deluxe Players series of guitars. The MIM Standards may be a little more bargin, but like my Tele, this guitar uses upgraded "US" pickups and electronics and the build quality is excellent.

This is the first guitar I've ever bought with my own money. It's been two years since I got it and It's been my number one guitar ever since. It has the most beautifully well done sunbursts I've ever seen, the neck profile is perfect, and I didn't even have to adjust it out of the box. Perfectly done guitar and for the money, a real bargain. I love it!

I purchased this guitar when they first came out and i play professional gigs and venues. I use it for R&B , Funk ,Disco , Jazz and nothing else feels
quite as good in my hands and i have played many guitars in the last 40 years and by far this has been my comfort zone for almost 20 years. I love this axe and it's tone quality love it so much had to put Gk3 pickup on it would not play anything else. Used on all of my cd's and studio recordings

I own the maple neck sapphire blue transparent model. Very beautiful guitar. The gold plating fades, but it looks very cool that way. The noiseless pickups are a bit quiet, so amp settings are higher, but the sound is awesome! I mostly play 4th position with the bridge button on. This is very cool. I love the 3 single coils all working together and I wish every strat had this extra setting. This guitar is light, silky smooth, sounds beautiful and you can get some great Clapton tones without the artist series price tag! The strat is made in Mexico, although the pickups are American made. I liked the initial setup, but I soon changed the action a bit, set the pickups and intonation and just smiled when I plugged it back in. I also added extra springs for heavier string use. I hope this review helps, Fender makes great products, and this one is at a respectable price. If you buy this strat you will not be disappointed. I am a huge fan of rosewood finger boards, but I have to give it to fender. Their maple necks are just as sweet!

My Deluxe Player Strat may be the best bang for my buck I've ever purchased. It plays almost like a custom shop guitar. It was set up right out of the box as well as any Fender product I've ever purchased. I was able to intonate the guitar very well and I can't say that is true of the other Mexican Made product.
The bottom line is that the Deluxe Player Strat is of similar quality as my American Standard guitars - and that's the truth!
Do yourself a favor and pick up one of these - the 12" radius will make you a believer.

I've had my instrument for about eight years. It's actually the Deluxe Super Strat which was the predecessor to the Player model, with the same specification apart from the pickups. The neck is a delight to play and that's what persuaded me to buy it even though it was beyond my budget.
I've never been sure what the pickups are, except that they're not the standard Mex set from that time. Suffice to say that at jam nights, people listening, and those who have borrowed it have been surprised to find that it's not an american guitar. The finish, feel and sound all lead them to believe it must be a much more expensive American model. Although I own several other guitars, this is still my 'go to' instrument for all around performance. The only reservation I have is regarding the tremolo bridge. I'm considering replacing that with a 3rd party unit which has a push-in arm as the threads are worn and sloppy on the original unit.

I bought mine new some time ago. Have not had a single problem with this guitar, stock pickups are fine, no complaints whatsoever. Nice neck.

The guitar is great I switched the noiseless pick ups out for Texas special pickups the gold hard wear is really BEAUTIFUL and with my rosewood fret board u can get insane warm tones out of it. I love it - use it for John mayer then Stevey ray Vaughan and many more. great for its value. thank u fender
I bought mine about 4 years ago and it's been a wonderful work horse instrument. In terms of fit, finish, and playability, this is a great instrument. The body is really comfortable and the hardware has held up really nicely. My favorite feature is the neck radius- the 12" radius is super easy to play and really lets you bend strings without any fretting out. As for the electronics, the blend switch is really nice. It allows for some more tone options and you can get a Tele/Jazzmaster kind of sound in the neck position with the switch down. My only complaint is the pickups. The Noiseless are nice, they get the job done, but I think they sounds a bit thin and sterile. I replaced them with a set of Seymour Duncan SSL-1's, put 5 spring to lock down the trem, and had a brass nut installed. All in all, I'm really happy with the instrument and it's a great guitar, especially for the money!
