I've been playing guitar for the last 54 years, and played on many Fender Guitars throught this time. Dad use to hold his band practices every Sunday afternoon and I was honoured and privilaged to play some of the finest Retro Heritage Fender electric Guitars in the mid 50's to the mid 70's along with playing through some truly amazing Fender Amps ! I even got to play on an old Fender Steel Guitar way back then lol.
The "First" Fender Guitar I bought was a 1974 Sunburst Telecaster, along with a 1974 Super Reverb Amp. My 2nd Fender Guitar was a 1975 all White Stratocaster along with a Fender Twin Amp. I love both of these Fender Combos and have gotten years and years of enjoyment from them.
My 3rd Fender Guitar was a 1979 all Black Stratocaster, it had/has a 5 way switch and I love the sounds I could/can get out of it. I bought a 2007 Fender Blues Jr Amp, and I LOVE it, especially when I plug my 1979 Black Stratocaster and/or my 1962 Gibson SG into it ! I My 4th Fender Guitar was a 2005 Black & Red Squire Fender Precision Bass. An amazing Bass Guitar, I get all the tones of a Fender Precision, and I can get some great Fender Jazz Bass sounds as well. I bought a 2008 Fender Frontman 212R Amp, and like it a lot, however, it's had some volume issues that are still unresolved. I prefer Tube Amps overall, and bought a 2012 Blues Jr Amp, but I think there may be a Bios problem with some of the tubes ? I have to turn the treble control off as the sound is way too BRIGHT even if I have the treble settin at one. It's very annoying, especially using it for Recording Sessions.
Last but certainly not least.......I bought a Black/Dark Purple Squier Fender Stratocaster Affinity Series 2 weeks ago. I was lookiing for something to give to my youngest son for his Birthday. He borrowed my 79 Black Strat last fall and I have not seen it since. lol He loves it as much as I do, however, I thought if I could find a quality Fender/Squier Guitar at a reasonable price, something that my son & I both would both like, then maybe, just maybe I would get my 79 Black Strat back ? lol
Low and behold, I walked into a Pawn shop and found this 2013 Black/Purple Squier Fender Strat. Plugged it in to a Champ Fender amp the pawn shop had and played the guitar for a good 30 minutes. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, feeling, and playing, at one point I actually thought my 79 Strat. lol I love the big Headstock and the action is incredible. It sounds great in the Recording Studio, although there is a bit of a buzz in 3 out of the 5 position tone switch. Perhaps a ground problem ? The action was a little high for my liking but was easily fixed with a few adjustments here and there. It plays clean through all 21 Frets and string bends, pull off's etc all sound FAB ! I love the sustain and it holds it's tuning very well. I like it so much that I'm thinking I may keep it for myself lol and let my son keep my 79 Strat. lol Although, I have a feeling that when he see's and plays this amazing Squier Affinity Fender Stratocaster on his Birthday, hopefully, he'll bring my 79 Strat back and take this one home ! lol We'll see, I'll keep you in loop Fender lol, it's all good. :)
I would HIGHLY recommend this Squier Affinity Fender Stratocaster Series, and Squier/Fender Bass Guitars to all my students, and everyone else out there, beginners, semi Pro and PRO Players. You certainly get more Guitar Value considering how little this Series cost, and how good this Series plays and looks !
A Fender is a Fender and so is the Squire Affinity Fender Stratocaster Series !
Thanks for making this Affinity Squier Fender Series, Fender, hopefully you've come up with the answer for me in getting my 1979 Black Stratocaster back, lol and maybe you can help me out with my 5 way switch buzz in the 2013 Squire Strat, my Bios Tube problem in my 2012 Blues Jr, and the volume issues with my 2008 Frontman 212R Amp ?
PS:) I bought my sister a little Fender Acoustic Guitar and she Loves it ! It's about the same size of my 1956 0015 Martin, and they sound great together !

I have been on the prowl for a decent quailty and affordable guitar to leave at work and use for lunch break practicing. I own several higher end guitars for use weekly in our praise band, but did not want to bring them to the office. One of my favorites to play is my Clapton "blackie" strat. I was looking for similar playability and feel but wanted to stay on a low price end. The affinity series strat was the perfect fit. It feels great in my hands and for the price it looks stylish and has decent tonality. I would highly recommend this guitar to any beginner and even folks like me that want to leave an axe handy for when the creative urge strikes. I just run it through my ipad or my mini Marshall battery amp at work so as to not disturb the workplace. Everyone that stops by gets drawn to its look (got the placid blue).

They say that this guitar is for beginners but it is true I have tried many models including american fender, the first time I hear a fender that I was fascinated but there was not enough money to buy a fender stratocaster american so a friend I tested it this and the sound really is very similar to american fender humbucker and gives excellent versatility, I record and play with her and I'm more than comfortable and I recommend it not only for beginners.

First: confort of traditionnal shape, good wood quality and very honest building quality.
Second: neck and fret filing/sanding, electronics of your choice.
Third: a unique guitar at your specs for this basic price.
Thanks Squier

I went shopping for a guitar after years of life got in my way of playing. I had my eyes on a different brand after reading the reviews extensively online. The salesman showed me the guitars I was looking for, then recommended this one. Not having played for a long time I had trouble understanding all of the differences between guitars, but this one actually just felt right. It is well made, sounds great ("nice and clean" to "down and dirty" and everything in between) and the price was great. I didn't really know how much I would play it at first, but after 3 months I've practiced on it daily.
I did have to set it up out of the box due to some fret buzz and higher action than I liked. There is a good series of videos on you-tube on the four steps of setting up your Stratocaster. Do these small adjustments, with the included tools, and you have a great instrument. I changed the strings to EB slinky and it rarely needs tuning. I know it is made in China, but it seems to be made with quality in mind so don't let that sway you.

I am really impressed with the build quality and tone of this guitar - having HSS configuration makes it very versitile and suits my playing style - I love the finish on the neck which whilst fairly narrow suits me.
I have no hesitation in recommending squire products.
