As a guitar player, I grew up idolizing such iconic guitars as the Fender® Stratocaster® and Telecaster® guitars and the rock stars who made them famous. So you can imagine my thrill of spending last summer with Fender Musical Instruments Corp. in Scottsdale.
Clerking in their Legal Department, I was responsible for lending assistance in a variety of legal matters including trademark litigation and enforcement, environmental compliance, and employment law. For example, I took the lead in drafting interrogatories and gathering evidence to support Fender's opposition to a competitor's trademark application.
There were some great perk's about working at Fender. They supplied me with a guitar and amplifier at work so I could work on my chops and contribute to the ambient noise that was bursting from various offices and cubicles at all times of the day. The video game, Rock Band, licenses Fender products and was never in short supply. In fact, I discovered that with the General Counsel on vocals and me on guitar, we were one rockin' virtual band.
The majority of our internships take place at our corporate office in Scottsdale, Ariz. Our paid summer internships run for 12 weeks during your summer break. We also have a co-op program that runs during the school year.
