La Fender® Custom Shop J5 Telecaster® possède la forme exacte de la Telecaster®, excepté un contour plus anguleux. Cependant, un examen plus attentif décèlera une crosse originale, avec trois mécaniques de chaque côté. Le corps est en frêne,et bordé d'un double binding (filet ivoire), le manche ultrafin en érable est surmonté d'une touche en palissandre. La J5:Bigsby possède un micro humbucker Seymour Duncan® Hot Rails™ en position chevalet, un micro Fender® Custom Shop Twisted Tele™ en position manche, et un vibrato Bigsby.
