Killer bass for the money

(5.0)

Semi-Professional Blues Funk Jazz Rock Heavy Metal Punk

I recently bought one of these in January 2013. In the 5 months I've owned it, it's become my main bass.

I had a 1974 Telecaster Bass in the mid 90's and always regretted selling it. I wanted that thick, meaty tone back. Now I have it, and I've got it on an instrument with a neck a hundred times more comfortable to play than that old '70's Fender.

With a bit of EQ it's possible to take this 1-trick pony from fat Country and Reggae thump straight to the thick, heavy rock tones I needed. The Modern-C neck is incredibly easy to play and the fit & finish is as good as on any Squier. It's not as heavy as my 74 by a long shot. I wish it had the slab body that the originals had, but the contours are just as comfortable as a Precision Bass.

Once this pickup mellows with a little age, it's going to sound JUST like that '74 I had 20 years ago. Thank you Fender for making this reissue.

This instrument is absolutely ideal for playing reggae, but it has only one good tone. Not too bright, not too characteristic.

I have wanted one of these things for years now. By far one of the easiest and most fun basses I've ever played! Wish i could have one for myself!
