A Superb Investment

I bought the American made '57 Precision re-issue (2-tone tobacco sunburst finish) to do some digitial recording in 2001. It's identical to the '58 presented here, though the '58 is a 3-tone sunburst. For performing and recording, this bass lays down a fat, wide bass track that is incredibly satisfying. I have received many compliments on its look and sound over the many years I've owned it. The neck has no "dead spots" and the vintage pick-ups are the holy grail. I bought my first Fender bass in 1977, a then-new Jazz Bass that I still own. That bass is without question the best investment of any kind I ever made (besides my wife and children), and it remains my first love. The '57 re-issue is an exciting mistress.

I have tried 4 different version of this product. Unfortunately, Fender has really dropped the ball on this one. It is just an American style bass with the typical American bass sound. Nothing special about this bass at all except for the design. What Fender has actually done is given you the design of a 58 Precision without the sound, but with the high price.

This is a wonderful new addition to the new American Vintage Series. Overall, it hits the mark on the classic Fender PBass design. The tone is fantastic. Very tight and true with a great mid range and sustain on lower notes. Fits all styles of music and sounds fantastic with the Fender Flats that are provided too. Well worth the money.
