It is a beautiful bass, mine is pine where the grain is prevalent. i don't have a problem with the heavy glossy finish but would have preferred a more lighter touch. The pickup gives me all the range i need nice low and growls when needed. The neck and fret work is very well finished and the amber color is fabulous. Now for a minor issue: the "A" string even after an exhaustive set up, rattled with no solution in sight. The stealth bass chrome string guide will not work on this bass. I did not want to put an additional string guide or heavy string "T" so i came up with my own solution using and electrical aluminum connector. This fixed the problem completely. It is one of my favorite basses to play. It feels solid and of a higher price range. No regrets.

Great instrument for the money, playable and good-looking.
In use I've had a couple of minor issues. The jack socket tends to unscrew and can fall into the body, I advise a bit of loctite on the threads. The black top plate of the pick-up fell off and had to be superglued back on.

The bass comes with a perfect setup, the hardware is massive and solid, the tuners work perfect, electronics are good, the neck is fat and comes with thin vintage frets, it offers excellent playability. Good sound, much lows, lots of funky treble, but for my taste it sounds too 'modern', I think the mids are too poor. I expected a 'rougher' sound, more fuzzed. I tried a SD SCPB-1 Vintage, it didn't make a better job, it sounded even more modern, so I still use the original PU. The pickguard is thick and glossy, it looks too modern. The thumb rest is also a nasty piece of plastic, but easy to remove. Anyhow, I love the bass. The only thing that really disturbs me is the laquer of the body - too thick, too glossy, to me it looks and feels like greasy meat, awful. I think I'm gonna replace it with something different. I'm not a nitro junkie, polyester works fine for me, but here it looks awful.

You can't forget this is a replica of the very first electric bass in history, and it's still amazing to see and hear how perfect this project was.
the bridge is a good one, heavy with brass saddles, but it's obviously different from the original string-thru 2 saddle bridge design. tuners are smaller than the original too. Tiny details won't compromise playability, very good.
The action was perfectly setted up just out of the box, the body is light and this bass is very confy to wear and play. Change the nut as soon as you can, stock one is cheap, upgrading to a bone one won't cost you that much and will give great benefits in terms of sound.
