I was very exited to get this guitar in my hands.
It seemed everything I wanted in a Guitar.
I am a huge fan of Jim Root,I love Teles, and I love Fenders.
I have owned over 100 Strats,Teles and Jags in my day.
The fact that this is a Mexi Tele did not scare me.
I have owned several quality Mexi-Fenders.
This one could not have missed the boat any harder.
It seems like a practical joke gone bad or a toy guitar, a novelty item.
I wouldn't play this guitar on stage if you paid me.
When my guitar arrived today...I took it out of the box and didn't even have to plug it in to realize this was a HUGE waist of $1200.
Its weight alone scared me...All of about 4 pounds..felt like a cheap toy.
The neck is disformed. It actually gets fatter at the top of the neck towards the Nut, causing my hand to cramp while playing (bizzare).
The volume pot is super loose almost falling out, and the 3 way switch was rattling around in the body.
The action is really high and the strings buzz so bad it's embarrassing.
The nut looks like it was borrowed from the Squier Series.
This guitar is every-bit a Squier and no more.
This is a $300 guitar at best...Even the EMG Pickups don't seem to be ACTUALLY Real EMG but a cheap pickup with a EMG Logo. The wiring is cheap.
Last but not least, the guitar won't and can't stay in tune.

Got this guitar because I've always been a fan of metal and of Jim Root and of course Fender. I already owned a Standard Telecaster and an Epiphone Korina V but I wanted a guitar well suited for metal and low tunings. When this guitar arrived it was out of all my guitars the best straight out of the box. All I had to do was switch out the strings to the Dunlop 11's that I am used to. This guitar sounds absolutely killer! The flat white paint job is awesome! Overall the look is stunning! Also the most comfortable guitar I own with all the cut-aways. So far have had zero issues with the guitar and am also really enjoying the locking tuners. Definitely my favorite guitar I own now! Great value especially with the case and that it's loaded with EMG's. Buy it

I purchased this guitar and was expecting almost perfect for the price and signature brand. I love the simplicity of just a volume knob and the flat white paint job. The EMG combo is excellent too! My only disappointment is that the action is set too high. I've tried to lower it and I get fret buzz. I've used every brand of string and gauge you can imagine and made every adjustment I can, but fret buzz is still there. I'm reading that this is set up for Jim Roots preferences, so I guess it just comes that way. If you play leads then you may want to play one before you purchase one. Still a cool looking guitar and sounds good for metal.

I play alot of rock on this guitar and the tone and play-ability of this instrument is amazing. i mostly play rock and metal but i occasionally sit in with a few country bands and i can even get away with using this guitar with a country band. this is the most versatile guitar i own and the only thing i wish was better about it was the price just so that i could buy more then the one i have!!

I certainly love the Jim Root signature telecaster for many reasons. Every time i turn up at my local music store i jam out on a one.
I will definitely buy soon enough as i cant get enough of them.
I bought this Jim Root telecaster yesterday, and I can assure you, there will be no regrets. This guitar is amazing the tone and playability is awesome, you can play whatever you want on this guitar. I love it. I'm a Heavy metal/hard rock dude, and I like it very hard, and this guitar fulfills my heavy dreams with its crunchy lead tone. But this guitar is not like other heavy guitars, it is very all around. I mean you can play everything on it, the EMG pickups give you that crunchy tone but at the same time a very clean tone when you play without distortion. It's fantastic. This guitar is and will be my favorite guitar. Do yourself a favor and buy one of these, it's awesome.

I really like the sound and tone of the guitar. I like the looks of the guitar. I find it hard to play. The string tension is much higher than any other 25 1/2 inch scale guitar I own or have owned. Getting a low action on it has proven to be very challenging. I will end up using the guitar for drop d and drop c tunings but not for standard tuning. I find I'm fighting the guitar to play solos. I know this is set to Jim's specs which I do not follow as a musician. I did get this guitar because I love Tele's and wanted one that Rocks hard. I'll just have to keep playing it until I tame it.

I finally got my Jim Root Tele at Christmas of 2012. I waited 6 months for it to finally arrive after ordering it in the summer. I ended up getting a Strat in October because I felt the Tele was taking to long from the factory. I paid cash for the and was getting angry because the arrival date kept getting pushed to the next week. The music store I ordered it through was very apologetic and I knew it wasn't their fault. Then I got a phone call from a very excited salesman from my music store. The Tele was in! I went down and unboxed it myself, and purchased it without even playing it. As soon as I got home I had a better look at it. Perfection!!!!!!!!!!! This kick ass and take names guitar is awesome! Everything was right and sounded mean! I've had a dozen Telecasters (all American, not cheap!) that have been great but this Jim Root Tele blows them all out of the water and then violently throws them back in and drowns them! If your still reading this rant, go get one!

When I got this guitar the action was high so I went to go into the case to get the hex to adjust the bridge saddles. The hex was too big. I still have to find out the correct size. But otherwise the guitar is great. If there was no problems with the hex I received I would have rated it a 5. It can play great, I have played other models of this with fine action. The guitar is solid. Stays in tune. It comes with Strap locks. I changed them to Dimarzio Clip-Locks. Jim Root uses them and they are great. The guitar was a great buy. If it was stolen or destroyed I would be destroyed then I would buy another one.

I love the look of the Telecaster but do not love the twangy sound of the single coil pick ups. I was checking out some 72 Fender Telecaster Deluxe. I already owned a Squier Telecaster Custom Deluxe which I love but was ready to upgrade to a Fender. I ended up ordering this Jim Root Signature Telecaster in Flat Black with Maple Fretboard from Guitar Center without playing it first. I just fell in love with the simplistic styling of this guitar. Please note, that I do not like to play Slipknot style heavy metal, I am more of a old school rock and roll player. When I received the guitar, I was not initially impressed. The action was too high and I was not used to the 12" radius of the neck (I liked the 9.5" radius of my Squier. The other issue was tone. I was not used to playing EMG active pickups. I had the action professionally set up and I began to adjust the settings on my amp, a Fender Mustang which allows me to get many different sounds easily from one amp. After finally getting everything set up to my desires, I can't put this guitar down. I can play everything from the clean sounds of Jimmy Buffett and Bob Marley to the distorted sounds of Green Day, Kiss, and Iron Maiden and they sound amazing. Now I am looking to also get a Fender FMT Telecaster with Seymour Duncan pick ups and compare both guitars but I will not get rid of this one. It really rocks.
