An excellent amp for the hobbyist

Purchased the SCX2 after quickly determining that the two "budget" Fender solid state amps I'd tried were not my taste sonically and limited in terms of features, though undeniably both represented a very good value at their respective price points. For a modestly increased budget outlay, the SCX2 combo afforded me the benefits of superior warmth and pick response by way of the tube power output section (I'm playing a Standard Tele), an almost limitless range of tones that can be produced via the combination of capable onboard effects (16 incl. combinations), a responsive EQ section, 16 amp models (some very convincing and most all quite useable) and the added customization capabilites (including virtual stomp boxes, post signal processers and even "deep" edits such as virtual SAG and bias) that are enabled by downloading the FUSE software and hooking up the amp to my computer. All in a "grab and go" package that weighs in at only 25 lbs. and sounds great at modest practice volumes! The build and appearance are of the high quality that is customary to Fender products, though I docked the amp a point for the stock speaker, which though capable at modest volumes, became somewhat unstable at higher volumes and in high-gain applications. An easy swap to an Eminence Legend 1058 proved to be very satisfying and better utilizes the vast tonal possibilities of the amp while retaining the classic "Fender chime" of Channel 1. Additionally, by investing in a budget amp stand, I was able to achieve improved projection and clean low end while bringing the amp controls within comfortable reach. All in all, an outstanding value and ideal amplifier for the low-volume livingroom hobbyist or garage band jammer.

Great Amp for a great price!

I was blown out when I first plugged my Gibson Les Paul in the Fender Super Champ X2 amp. I was very surprised that it had such a nice sound. The first channel (clean) sounds amazing and also fits perfectly with my Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 for the "dirty" sounds. I practice at home at low volume and it sounds great, and this 15 watt tube amp can be loud enough for small gigs!

Better than I Bargained For

I am primarily an acoustic player, so this amp is only for occasional use. The concept was to get a grab and go unit and lose the big pedal board. The idea worked out better than planned. Not only are the on board effects more than adequate, the worst sounds on this amp beat the best in my old digital processor - which was a pro line unit. And best of all, you get true tube amp sound from this little unit.

In my opinion, this is the best value on the market for small modeling amps - and I checked out. Oat of them before I bought.

I own a SCXP. The Amp sounds well and is very good to use in a flat.
But: I miss simple features for modern kind of training.
I.E. Effect Way for connecting a Looper, ...
Therefore only 90%

I bought this amp as something that I could play at low volume in my house and possibly use for quick grab and go jam sessions. I couldn't be more thrilled. The first channel gives you the best of both worlds for the typical fender clean sound as well as being a good starting point to use pedals. There are a plethora of sounds on tap in channel 2 and the digital effects are surprisingly decent, especially the reverb. While I've found that the amp was sufficient for the money initially, I did find that a speaker swap as well as a power tube change gave the amp a much larger sound as well as more clean headroom, which is great especially when using pedals. It has now made its way onto my list of what I use for varying needs and even when recording. I cannot stress enough, how great this amp is for the price.
