American Deluxe Jazz Bass® V (Five String)

I Love my 2011 American Deluxe Jazz 5

(5.0)
James Coderre on February 20, 2013 (updated February 22, 2013)
Professional Funk Jazz Rock Classic Rock Heavy Metal

This is a great 5 string Jazz bass. I have the Natural finish model with maple fret board & black pearl block markers. This bass is just plain sexy!! This is a very versatile bass, it comes with a set of Fender N3 Noiseless pickups & it can be played in Active or Passive mode that allows you to dial in many tones.
In passive mode the Master volume, the pickup pan volume knob & the Passive tone knob work & in Active mode the Master Volume, pickup pan knob, Bass, Treble & Mid knobs work. The neck on this bass has a great feel & I really like the Hipshot tuners & string retainer on the B string.
The stock 82505M strings that come with this bass with the taper B & E strings are a nice touch & have a piano like ring to them. There's also a sculpted heel, that makes it easier to play notes in the 15 to 21 fret area.
The American Deluxe Jazz 5 also comes with a Fender SKB Flight Case with re-enforced corners & plush Back interior. This bass screams Quality & attention to Detail. Fender did their homework on the current American Deluxe line of basses.

Fender deluxe jazz bass 24 fret

(5.0)
fivestring on February 18, 2013
Semi-Professional R&B Funk Jazz

I would like to say that I Love All of my fender basses, they have their own individual personality. But 24 fret is the greatest of all of them but their not offered anymore. In my opinion the active / passive , with the scoop switch is it guys ( period ). Fender should have this in all Fender stores but with various tops and colors and Fret board tops. With 21 fret options as well , recently i got a quote for a 24 fret custom with everything basic except the color and hardware color and it was way out of my price range for that . It had to be master built for it to be 24 fret. I love fender basses and always will but that wasn't the price that I was looking for. All of the luthiers out there making Jazz Basses are making their basses based on the Great fender basses and their too pricey. No one can match the Fender as far as I am concerned. I would love to have the job of testing fender basses against the other competition to give feedback on what to improve or change etc. And of course I get to keep the ones I test. Fender is the Cadillac of Bass and guitar, I know the market is competitive but we should always be open to changes . Yours truly 24 Fret

2010 American Deluxe 5 string jazz

(5.0)
ForFoxSake on February 18, 2013
Professional Blues R&B Funk Jazz Rock Classic Rock Country

Flawless until recently when the nut gave way on the B string side. The design of the nut due to the binding is the top is wider than the base of the nut sorta like extended ears to the edge. Very little material there. A respected luthier is doing a bone nut for me now the bass is 3 years old now I am not willing to send it away for weeks to fender even if the warranty was good. I love the bass. I would not hesitate to replace with same if stolen or damaged. I am a working musician.
