I was expecting a good quality instrument but my expectations were never very high. I was in for a surprise! Man, this is a great quality instrument with high end features for a fraction of the money. Crafted in Indonesia but with features that rival USA made models and an unsurpassed balance of beauty, playability, tone and performance that go way beyond expected. I own the Black Cherry Burst and am already wanting the Amber after validating its quality craftsmanship. Just can't stop playing it.

I just couldn't be happier with my guitar! I've had it for several years and I still love it. The best thing about my guitar is that its sound fits several different music genres from hard rock to heavy and all the way to rockabilly. Great value.

Bought this guitar in 2004. Not sure if there's any difference now, but none I can see. Was originally looking at buying a Les Paul for the humbuckers. Tried a couple Tele's and while I love the classic Tele sound, they just don't cut it when you 'need' the humbucker tone. Well, I saw this in the crimson red, looked amazing and was about $800 cheaper than the Paul I was looking at. I loved the fact the sound wasn't as dark as the Paul, and then what do you know, coil tap for those single coil twang and funk sounds. Still plays great and has put up with my abuse (which has claimed more than a few guitars). This is my go-to guitar. Hope to get another soon in the cherry burst. Just beautiful.

I got mine this past winter (December, 2013), and its just unbelievable, awesome finish (Mine's Black Cherryburst), the only improvements I would possibly make, a direct wood mounted pickups, and I wish it came with fender's F-Logo Strap Locks that were the same color as the rest of the hardware, I had to buy black Dunlop Dual-Design Strap Locks - it's not THAT big of a deal, I just think that'd be cool...

Beautiful guitar. Extremely comfortable to play, fantastic sound, and not to mention an amazing price. This guitar literally plays and sounds like any of the standard american models (maybe even better?). I can't get over how good the Seymour Duncan pickups sound, plus with the chambered body the guitar has an amazing tone and is super light; perfect for gigging. The only thing i would change would be to have a coil tap/split for each individual pickup rather than one that splits both at the same time, just a personal opinion though. All-in-all an excellent guitar, would totally recommend to any serious guitarist young or old.

I got a gold top, and it's very clean, and also kinda heavy for the seymour duncan. It's very playable, and is not heavy like the other models. It is more tiny and beautiful. The body is from 1 piece, it's like a relic guitar.

I love my Strat and Tele, but I was always looking for "that" sound. Last week I picked this Tele up and plugged straight into a Blues Jr. Awesome tone!!! Plugged into a Deluxe and it screamed! Fast smooth neck, drop dead gorgeous finish, and it has plenty of "that" sound. Performed with it yesterday and what a great guitar this turned out to be. Super versatile!!!! Great tone and looks to boot. Splitting the coil is cool and gives a passable Tele sound, but not full on twang. It does lose some volume when using the single coil setting so I had to add clean boost at the same time. I highly recommend this guitar.

Just bought this guitar last Saturday. I run it through a board with 6 effects pedals through to a vintage '65 Deluxe Reverb. While the single-coil tone is a bit thin (as it usually is compared to humbuckers), the humbuckers are tone monsters. Pushing the volume on the amp and the guitar or kicking in the TubeScreamer or distortion pedal makes this guitar sing. I absoluely love it so far. It does not sound like a traditional Telecaster so, if that's what you're looking for, this is not the guitar for you. The bridge pickup with the coil tap pulled up for single-coil operation will give you a nice, sharp country sound. I haven't tweaked the tone controls on my amp too much but I'm sure I can get it to sound just right in any configuration.

Right out of the box this guitar looked great. The rich color, binding, Awesome. Felt pretty good as well. I plugged it in and it sounded like total poop. I took it to my tech who is a certified Fender guy and had him look into it for me. The first thing he noticed is that it sounded really brassy and harsh which is what I noticed. I left it with him for a few days and this is what all he did and what was wrong.
First he opened up the back and noticed that the color code for the Seymour Duncan's were WAY off. Not sure what the code they were using. This may be explained by the little tag and only tag on the guitar that said it had some other pickup installed but yet the Fender site and retailers all said SD. OK no big deal rewired with the Seymour Duncan Wire code and Wow sounded pretty good. A quick setup and fret filing on the edges and it was good to go.
Not sure why the wiring was jacked the way it was could be miscommunication to the people who actually made it. Oh well instead of paying to ship it back I just had it fixed. I paid my Luthier to do it.
The last thing on this is that all the "Black" is coming off the Black Chrome Hardware. Every time I whip the guitar down more just fades away. The only thing left with the full Black Chrome Hardware is the Machine heads. The pickup Surrounds, Bridge, Knobs all have lost the color. Now all that hardware looks kind of like a Zebra. It's not flaking just rubbing off and very quickly/ It's only 3 months old.

I own this guitar for over a year now and I like it as much as in the beginning - even more.
it´s playability is great and you have the choice of wonderful different tones due to the coil-split!
also the colour is awesome!!

I bought this guitar twelve months ago (almost to the the day!) with a specific brief in mind:
I wanted splittable humbuckers, lightweight body and a slim neck, stable tuning and a wide tonal palate. Basically that's exactly what I got.
I needed to play clean jazzy sounds, right through to Rock and Roll, and the occasional crunchy number, but mostly simple honest rock and blues tones. The Custom FMT gives me 99% of what I asked for.
In the interests of a balanced review, the only (very minor) niggle is that the pickups are sooo beefy that it's a little hard to get a truely clean tone sometimes (but with a Pearly Gates in the bridge I only have myself to blame :) )
The only other minor point on mine is that the volume pot stays off til about 1.5-2 and then comes in quite loud, and doesn't get that much louder over the rest of the travel (I'm wondering if the tone and vol pots were swapped during wiring)
Otherwise I love it. Comfortable, easy to play, great tone, looks great too. My go-to gig buddy :D

I've owned this guitar for about three years, and I love it now as much as I did then. Maybe more! The neck is so slick and smooth, it makes you want to play better. The tone of the Duncan pickups is full and hot but can be rolled back, and the coil splitting capability makes this guitar good for anything, from warm smooth jams, to single-coil punk stuff, to hot and heavy rock. The price is incredible. Totally affordable but without the sense of cheapness "affordable" gives. You won't find a more reliable or more satisfying guitar.
