I've had this bass for two weeks and I love it. It's very simple, very well built, feels great to play and looks fantastic.
The bass is a little heavy and the slap-style body takes some getting used to, but I find it very comfortable. The balance is great, and it feels natural to play. The neck feels solid without being massive, and is easy to grip around.
The tone is simply fantastic. I find it hard to describe how great the bass sounds, even through a cheap amp.

This Bass is incredible sound tone everything about it I like. I've let other people play this bass who own the more expensive models and they all love it! Only guitar players hate it because of the sonics it easily drowns out guitars even with a small amp

Let's start with the beginning - I bought this bass because I wanted to have one for the rehearsals. I have a much more expensive bass that I considered my main instrument. I bought it second-hand, not new, a little blemished, and the price was more than affordable. My problems occurred when I received the instrument and I started playing. It sounded............ perfect. It didn't have 24 frets, 5 strings, active electronics and so on - as my other instrument, but it sounded, I repeat - perfect. Very old school, the mid range was astonishing good, the presence within a band was very good and the technicians were also impressed. I only use it since then. Never stop playing it. Great bass, great sound, great neck and great looks. Do NOT try to install the 105 gauge strings on it. I installed the 45-105 Rotosounds on it and the neck bent right away. In order for it to be the instrument I needed I had to do some modifications! - 2 carbon fiber rods inside the neck, the original lacquer out and some shellac instead, a drop-D Hipshot tuner, and new wiring and copper shielding. Now it is perfect. Never think of spending more for top end guitars. This one is perfect. I will buy another one without any hesitation. I play it every day minimum 4 hours. Just great.

This bass is probably one of the best sounding Precision Basses yet. It has a nice growl if the tone control is in the right spot. The neck is just right and has a good feel. The only criticism I have is that it should have a back contour. And it's heavy, so you need a good strap. The bridge and the custom shop pick-up add to the overall bite and sustain of this bass. At this price point, I think this is Fender's best kept secret.I would definitely recommend the Fender Mike Dirnt Precision Bass to anyone looking for a good all around bass.
