1965 Reissue Bad Ass!

(5.0)
Davey Love on September 25, 2014 (updated September 26, 2014)
Blues Funk Alternative Rock Classic Rock Country

I play guitar for Groove Gang out of San Francisco, CA. I just bought a Fender Super Reverb 65' Reissue last week brand new from Guitar Showcase in San Jose, CA, my favorite music shop! I've owned lots of amps, guitars and pedals over the 30 years I've been playing, but this is by far the best sounding one. I play an American made Fender Telecaster Special, and a 29 year old Epiphone Dot Deluxe, the only effects I use are a Vox Tonebender, Vox Hand Wired Wah, and an Echoplex, this amp has amazing tube driven reverb and tube driven tremolo. I use those two effects the most now. Although this amp claims to have only 45 watts of power, I swear it sounds like 100 watts, must be the four special designed Jensen speakers! I've played this amp at two rehearsals now, and have cranked it to 8, sweet as sugar baby! 7 is the sweet spot! Dialed in correctly, this Fender can sound like early 1968 - 1971 Jimmy Page - Led Zeppelin, or mid 60s Pete Townsend - The Who. Played clean with reverb and slow thick tremolo, you can dial in a Syd Barrett - Pink Floyd sound too. I just love this amp, what can I say, I'm finding my own personal sound with this baby. I'm very excited to be playing again. This is the best reissue amp that Fender makes, now to get myself a reissue Fender Custom shop 1959 Telecaster with a rosewood fingerboard!

Exactly what I want

Blues R&B Funk Jazz Rock Country

I'm a lifelong blues guitarist in Austin, Texas. I started playing as a tyke and now I'm retired in my 60's and I just recently came back to the guitar after a long lay-off. In trying to rediscover myself I started going to the famous weekly jams at Antone's blues club where all the amps on the back line are REALLY the '65 blackfaces in perfect condition. (Clifford Antone wouldn't have it any other way) The same amps the Vaughan brothers, Grissom, Gary Clark and all the great local blues guys use when they sit in at the blue jams. Everybody uses them. They've been going strong for decades. THAT sound brought it all back for me! Playing Clifford's 65 blackface super reverb brought back all the blues from before my layoff. The lines just flooded my mind on hearing that tone! The same amp Bloomfield got his incredible tone with back in the day. I now have a '65 blackface reissue and I love to crank it up. As my pal Cid Sanchez (John Mayall) said last week when he cranked it to full at a benefit show in a blistering set; "It's Fender, it can take it." Thanks for making this amp again. I have found myself again! The guitar pickers reading this will relate to what I'm saying.

Super EVERYTHING!

57deluxe on September 7, 2013 (updated September 9, 2013)
Semi-Professional Blues R&B Alternative Rock Classic Rock Pop Rock Folk Country

I UK and I already had a few Fender amps. My first was a 59 Bassman LTD but although I loved the smell, look and promise of it, it just didn't do anything warm and then had a fault and went back to the dealer under warranty.

For my 'Tweed need' I got a 57 Deluxe. I then got a Superchamp XD for some cheap and manageable BF tones and then a nice unexpected Blonde Supersonic 60 combo which has delicious chimes in the Vibrolux channel - I love this monster! But when another deal was offered on a Super Reverb I had to have another go at a 4x10. This is miles better than the Bassman as is very controllable and is no way you get anything other than delicious, harmonically orgasmic tones. Hell - I even use it in my Guitar Tutoring s is so refined and forgiving. I often forget what a beast it can be when I turn up that Bass with some more Vol and it punches a hole through the air!

Some good Overdrive in front and a Les Paul and it can sound like classic British Blues Rock and of course with a Strat or Tele is everything you ever heard from the 60's onwards!

I have it permanently sited in my living room and it looks inviting at me all the time... I am chuffed to own a musical time machine!

Super fender tone

Fat tele on February 20, 2013 (updated February 20, 2013)
Semi-Professional Blues R&B Jazz Rock Country

I got mine in 2006. I have taken it on the road and it always delivered super tone. It can handle any guitar I throw at it and any pedal too. I have always cut through the mix mic or unmic . Outside venues are no problem. The only time I was out gunned in volume on stage was by a Marshall jcm 800 100 watt amp but I had better tone. I even use my amp for watching moves by replacing the first 12AX7 with a 12AU7 and running the signal into the normal channel. It beats any surround sound system I have ever owned. I have a lot of different size fender amps for different size venues but the Super Reverb is most versatile and fun to play.

A Reason why it is still made

Great AMP! I had one a few years ago and I am planning on another one. I found it more useable then the Twin, which I do like but I get all the nice warm clean tones out of the 4 x10 at lower volumes than I would out of the twin. The reverb is unbeatable! OMG! when pushed this amp is unreal.Fender Vintage Reissue Amps are still relavant in this world of technology because they perform and produce tones that are at the roots of all great music. They are still the choice of most musicans today.

Amazing !

I play with a covers band , i am using a strat and a boss GT10 , the amp is extremely loud ! And sounds amazing . It works really well with effects and you have a lot of head room so you dont need the amp DI'd . I really cant explain with words how good this amp is - you cant beat a fender guitar with a fender amp . The amp is 45 watt all tube , but it has the power of a 1000 watt ! And the tone is amazing and because it has 410 inch speakers it has an amazing bass sound ! . The one thing is , the amp is very heavy but in my opinion , a good quality amp should have a bit of weight in it ! . If you are looking for an amazing amp an a great sounding one this is it !
