I picked up this guitar on a classic trip to guitar store with nothing in mind and money BURNING a hole in my pocket(you can imagine the pain I was in). So i came across this Tele and impulse purchased knowing full well I would most likely be selling it in a month. Still got it...still love it. It's actually the guitar i play the most (throughout the week)...I dont know if we fell into a great run of these from a solid plant...or if its a fluke...or if we're all FOS...but I love mine...Not for sale.

I was interested in a semi hollow body and was going to get a Epi Wildkat with P-90's but found this mink MP Tele on craig's list for $100 less then new so I picked it up. I have a Strat and thought a Tele would be a nice addition to my guitar collection. I did not expect it to be as nice as it is for the price point. Actually I find everything about it great other than maybe the finish is a little too glossy for my taste. Mine is the brown/black version and it is bathed in poly and they could have toned it down some, but I guess it does protect it well and the maple neck and headstock have that aged look so all in all I can't complain. I put new strings on it and it needed a good set up so I lowered the action and now it is very playable. I think the P90's sound fine on it and have no plans to change anything out. Just plug it in a play it. I would rate it a 4.5 if I could. Fit and finish is fine and quality of the components seem to be very acceptable. I am pretty sure it is not in the same league as a USA made tele, but I think it is every bit as good as a MIM tele and given the price you can't really beat it. Much better than a Squier in my opinion and for the money it is a good deal.

I have this beautiful fender telecaster bought 3 weeks ago.
I have a Gibson LP traditional and a fender stratocaster usa.
I must say although this guitar is made in china, it does have a nice sound and plays smoothly.
I have gained equal new strings and guitar better adjusted.
I think this is a good guitar for little money but has a fat sound.
I play mostly blues and classic rock and this is the perfect guitar for that.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
Sorry for my bad english.

The guitar is fantastic! I cannot say anything bad about this guitar. The workmanship is PERFECT, the P-90's sound better than Gibson p-90's...really! There is suppose to be a hum with p-90's but you cannot hear it unless I turn up my amp pass 7 and than the hum is very low.
The nice is always great on a telecaster so there is no surprise there.
I received this guitar from Sweetwater from Mark Chapman, a really great guy to work with also. The guitar is worth hundreds more than what it sells for. I have played and owned many Gibson guitars and I must say this tele beats most of them in playability, comfort and sound.
I recommend if you decide to buy this guitar go see Mark at Sweetwater he will take care of you and will make sure you get a fantastic guitar like the one I received.

I love the sound of P90 type pickups. So when I saw this Modern Player on the wall, I knew I had to have it. There is nothing not to like about the concept of this guitar. Hollow it out to make it super light. Load it up with P90 style pickups and you're off. Turn this guitar up and it sounds great. Big, beefy yet still clear and dynamic. But one thing is really bumming me out The one I got has a weird tone control for the neck pickup. It only works when the volume is on 10. Otherwise it does little if anything. Don't know why fender didn't decide to go with a master volume and master tone instead of a 2 volume 2 tone pot setup. I hate it. I'll be rewiring this telecaster very soon to be one volume and one tone. This is a great guitar for the money, just a poorly executed tone circuit.

First thing is that the adjustment allen screws had torn sharp edges on them, and they needed to be filed smooth; this is bad inspection in manufacturing. There is an ambient noise in the pickup like a hum, not a distorted hum, but like a, here's an oxymoron for you, it's like a silent hum; it's not bad, but it's still there. I like the strat string through bridge; it innovative and it is rock solid. I don't really use the whammy bar and this bridge idea is good. I’m not completely happy with the low-end growl; I like it, but it is a bit over powering, and trying to EQ it out is something I'm still working at? I think it's a great guitar; I love it and I'm happy I purchased it.

I was looking for an inexpensive Telecaster and almost overlooked this one because of the MP90 pickups, but they sound great for blues and rock. The chambered body has great resonance making it good for practice without using an amp. The playability and tone make this great for a beginner because it will reward practice with good tone (and not the frustration of a cheap guitar that makes you struggle just to sound mediocre). For the non-beginner, it is a fun play and provides an inexpensive way to get that P90 tone.
