Modern Player Jaguar® Bass

Model : 0241702

Throughout its history, Fender® has always made a special point of welcoming new players to the family by offering entry-level instruments of remarkable style and substance (such as the Duo-Sonic™, Mustang® and Musicmaster™ models), with great sound, classic looks, solid performance and eminent affordability. The Modern Player series continues that great my-first-Fender tradition, with thoroughly modern features and several distinctively unconventional new takes on our most revered instruments-all with outstandingly attainable value.

The Modern Player Jaguar® Bass presents a lean, mean and stripped-down version of the ultra-sleek bass model, with a powerful P/J configuration-a Modern Player Precision Bass® middle pickup and Modern Player Jazz Bass® bridge pickup-and streamlined control configuration. Features include a koto body, C-shaped maple neck, maple fretboard with 9.5" radius and 20 jumbo frets, three-ply parchment pickguard, three Jazz Bass control knobs (middle volume, bridge volume, master tone), vintage-style four-saddle bridge with brass saddles, open-gear tuners and nickel/chrome hardware. Available in Black.

Looking for a great bass ? This is better than just great....playability , tone , clean crisp high's Classic Fender low end growl....would have paid way more to get a bass that sounds and plays as good as this one. Fender has a real winner ...classic looks , sound that you could look for for a very long time is yours with this piece. To be fair its was played on 5 amps..GK..Hartke , Ampeg...Fender ...The jag sounded great on all of them and even better on others. Quit playing games....if you want a very nice bass ..that you Will never put down..this is it. Pickups are a beautiful blend of the jazz and P-bass pickups .. Fender did it again

Great Entry/Intermediate Level Bass

(5.0)

Amateur Blues R&B Rock Classic Rock Pop Rock Folk Bluegrass

I was a little surprised at the content when I opened the box - no owners manual, registration card or candy of any sort. You get the guitar and two allen wrenches - that's it. The price point makes you think this is an entry level instrument but the quality is very good. The fit and finish are very high quality and the playability is also very good. The split precision pickup is very crisp and pronounced and provides a really nice pop like you expect. The jazz pickup has a lot less output and I had to overcompensate with the volume to get a nice mix. For that reason I rated features with a four but that's the single fault I can find on this instrument. It really is a great value and feels very much like the higher cost American Jazz and P basses. I really like the P/J configuration tonally, the white over black looks very classy and I love the maple neck. I haven't had it long enough to know what to expect from the electronics but the cavity under the control plate is spacious and I plan to upgrade the components anyway. It has the mini Alpha pots which I'm sure I'll replace with CTS pots and I'll likely upgrade the pickups which should correct the output issue. To me that's one of the nicest features of these instruments - you have the option to plug in different components to suit your own preferences.

I personally had a little bad luck with this but I don't think it's really a product issue. I upgraded the strap knobs to Fender strap locks and the paint around the front lock entry point popped a chip out when I started to install the lock. The lock still installed fine and the base covered where the chip popped out but the first little nick in a new instrument always stings. Not sure why it popped like that - I have strap locks on all my instruments and this was the first one to do that.

Excellent all-round bass

(5.0)

Amateur Blues Gospel Rock Classic Rock Folk Country

Easy-to-play, fast-action Jazz Bass neck, combined with a lightweight body makes this the perfect instrument for bassists looking for an affordable Fender for all kinds of use. The Jazz-style pickup in the bridge position and Precision-style pickup in the middle position are easily adjusted with the familiar Jazz Bass controls (Bridge Volume - Mid Volume - Tone), and creates the crisp "twang" of the Jazz bass or the deep rumble of the Precision, or a combination of these sounds.
I have used my Modern Player Jaguar Bass for rock, gospel, blues, folk and country, and it sounds just right for all kinds of music.
If you are looking for an affordable all-round bass, look no further.
