Fender instruments have always been about great simplicity and convenient modularity—no other guitars are easier to personalize with new parts and hot-rodded features into truly individual declarations. The remarkable new American Deluxe Strat® Plus guitar is the next step in the evolution of that great tradition, giving you three Stratocaster guitars in one with an innovative design featuring easily interchangeable “personality cards” that instantly give you a wealth of versatile pickup and circuitry configurations.
One card comes in the guitar and delivers standard Stratocaster pickup wiring; two extra personality cards are included and let you “re-wire” the guitar with specialized pickup and circuitry modifications quickly and easily. Simply pop the color-coded cards in and out of the easy-access compartment in the back, and you’ve just modded your Strat in record time. Further, the American Deluxe Strat Plus features fully solder-less electronics that literally make other great circuit mods a snap.
Other fine features include a maple neck with comfortable “modern C” profile and satin finish, compound-radius maple fingerboard (9.5”-14”) with 22 medium jumbo frets, and three single-coil N3 Noiseless™ Strat pickups with five-way switching. The guitar also has a three-ply mint green pickguard and aged white control knobs, two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with bent steel saddles, Micro-Tilt™ neck adjustment mechanism, staggered deluxe locking tuners and nickel-chrome hardware. Accessories include a convenient carrying case for the two extra personality cards, hard-shell case, guitar strap, cable and polishing cloth.

I must've played 20 guitars Saturday, and I knew early on this was my favorite, even up against other American Deluxe models. The n3's just sounded so good, especially compared to customs! I debated spending the extra 300, but decided the sound and neck were worth it. AFTER deciding, I learned of the personalization features. It was like a huge bonus! I am a tinkerer and this is perfect for my curiosity. My favorite is the blender card which allows me to blend in either neck or bridge depending on which one is deselected. The middle tone knob acts as a treble cut and the dip switches set parameters for how much cut at what volumes. Set it And Forget it! The variated pickups are perfect compliments to each other. Because this was my first Strat, I was very stringent with sound, and I picked this one hands down. I LOVE this guitar and give it an A+ in tone, playability and finish. As for you nay-sayers, just go play it and pop in a card or two (takes 10 Seconds). If you don't like it, don't buy it! Some people still prefer land phones and carburetor engines too, so it's all good! Thank you Fender for making my first Strat such a great value that I can adapt to my ever changing needs!

I've been playing for 40 years on and off . I've been playing more this past 2 years relearning and growing more as a better musician. This is the 2nd Fender strat I've owned the first was a gold strat made in Mexico and it was a good guitar but was not made in the USA, this one has it beat Hands down. the setup had to be tweaked a bit lower ,but it plays so sweet and fast neck . Light weight and so unique . great tone and the other two cards work and produce awesome sounds ,Coupled with a boss ME-80 the sky is the limit. Bending the strings is easy and the whammy bar is a great tool if you use it, right now I don't. Love the Locking tuners makes restringing it real easy and a lot less winding and guess work as well. It comes set up with 9 gauge strings and its a good fit for the guitar. I own a 2001 Gibson Les Paul Studio and I like this Fender Strat as much as I love my les Paul. This guitar came with a Fender case with two pockets/ cubby holes , one for the cards and the other I keep the tools and tuner in it the polish cloth and extra string's. The strap that comes with it is good and comfortable but I will get a higher end one later. I did put Safety locks on the guitar and strap ; which I use on all guitars. I have one problem and that's the reason for the 4 rating on the features is the cord/ cable that came with it is real noisy and cheep in my opinion. after I put a better cord in the set up the noise went away. OVERALL you wont be disappointed for the price you pay. This guitar is great for the Beginner to the professional and well worth the money and to top it off, IT'S USA made..

I haven't played one yet but believe me I will very soon.
Love the idea of not carrying several guitars to a gig. And modifying a guitar can also be a pain as it limits it to what you did it for.
I just bought a cheap korean made (I) guitar because after 40 some years of playing the arthritis in my hands makes playing a standard Strat type neck painful. So, if this was designed for kiddies with Hampster hands it will be ideal for us oldies with disabilities who remember the days before using tab or phrase trainers to learn a song and slowed 45 rpm singles to 33rpm to learn the riffs........ Now, where is my local stockist here in the UK.........?
This is a really versatile guitar. There are a lot of tone options. I've played The Police, the Beatles, U2, ZZ top, Oasis and even Metallica on it. It carried it al!!!
The neck feels awesome. The finish feels smooth. The electronics are good too. Those personality cards feel solid and give some nice options.
Even my brother was impressed...he is a Gibson/PRS fan.

Alright, let's first put to bed several other reviewer's complaints:
The neck on this guitar is AWESOME. I've read some reviews that say the neck is smaller or that the compound radius messes with playability- I couldn't disagree more, and I swear by my American Standard, so this guitar did a fantastic job making a believer out of me.
Secondly, the card system seems to get a tonne of flack, like there is something emasculating about not soldering your guitar. Dumb. Ever worked in a studio? Ever dragged more than one guitar to a show? If you wanna permanently hot rod your guitar, be my guest, I've done it to a few of my own, but it changes both the value and potential appeal to other guitarists- clearly, you've missed what the function of this guitar is supposed to be. Versatility is this guitar's selling point! The "Cutter" card was easily my favourite, the ability to roll the high end out really made the neck pickup sound fantastic for smooth jazz, something I had previously believed a strat couldn't do as well as my semi-hollow with humbuckers.
My only real complaint with this guitar is colour-to-model specs. I love the maple neck, but was a little heart-broken that the HSS model is rosewood, and I would pay extra to get one in a plain, "un-sparkled" finish, but now I'm being nit-picky.
This guitar made a believer out of me, a guy who tried it at work as a total skeptic. Fender has also said that buying replacement cards is a breeze, should you lose one. Go to your local music store, and try it for yourself!
At least that's what I'd use it for, here are a few reasons why.
1. The neck: I assume everybody has heard of Ibanez (and other shredder guitar companies). The thin neck isn't made for children. It's more of a comfort deal and for speed (steve vai, dragon force etc)
2. Cards: Anybody who gigs for a living knows that a single guitar can't possibly cover the twangy country, bashing metal, smooth jazz and come back to country again. With the cards you can sorta pull it off (to some extent) just pocket the extra cards and swap when needed.
3.no solder burns: solder NOT required (woo hoo) just pop it in and let it rip!!!
4.less baggage/several guitars in one: one guitar (could be your favorite) does it all and more.
Some of the commenters seem to miss the point. This is a card that can change the internal wiring of the guitar without doing anything but putting jumpers in place.
You can add bridge/neck combinations, or any configuration you can imagine - put them on different positions of the switch and customize your tone AND position on the switch.
After you've played with all the possibilities you can return it to stock configuration simply by putting the standard card back in the slot.
Having seen the average soldering job this is a Very Good Thing.
For me, I can say the personality cards idea is terrible. It gives the impression the guitar is a toy and cheapens the instrument.
I can't see the cards taking off, there only may be a small market for this idea.
The S1 switching is far better. Don't over-do things....people like simplicity and how the strat has stayed for 60 years.
Good gadget or gimmick. I know which one I'm with.
So I have seen Fender clothes, furniture, and even Fender wine which can be chilled in a refrigerator that of course looks like a Fender amp, and now a guitar that takes cartridges? Really? You wanna know what I think..... Why has this not been done before now! You guys have thought outside the box again. This will be a really easy way to have many guitars in the arsenal except you only have to bring one. I only wish I would have thought of this because then you could have found me at anytime thereafter on a Mexican beach sipping Corona.... Forever.
Why do you need to switch out cards that you can lose rather than tweak your effects or tweak the guitar sound at the mixing board, or use some computer software? The modular non soldering pickup idea is good.
