More about '59 Bassman® LTD

In early 1952, the Fender® Bassman® amplified a great new invention - the Fender Precision Bass® guitar. At 50 watts, it competed easily with the common instrumentation of the day: horns, piano, small drum kit, and maybe even an electric guitar through a new 10-watt amp. Through the ’60s and ’70s, the original all-tube tweed 4x10” Bassman® was popular with rock, country and blues guitarists as a reliably great-sounding and easy-to-use guitar amp. In the ’90s, Fender released an affordable ’59 Bassman reissue amplifier to great acclaim. Many guitarists, tired of experimenting with preamps, equalizers and effects racks, rediscovered the simple pleasure of plugging into a Fender tube amp. The reissue Bassman’s wide stage coverage, touch-sensitive dynamics and full-frequency swirl make it perfect for building great tone with almost any guitar or effect, and it remains a staple of the Fender guitar amp line to this day.

Wonderful amp, best of the best!

(5.0)

Blues Gospel Classic Rock Country

Well,...where do I begin with this review? I'm at a loss for words because of it's awesomeness in tone, it's ease of use(no unnecessary bells and whistles), it's basic features, it's value for the money, etc. Being an amateur player still,...slowly working my way up,...I really believe I have found my sound with my '59 Fender Bassman LTD Vintage Reissue amp. This amp is just wonderful for country and some blues,...and I am sure it would even work in church for some old time gospel hymn singing. Though not a bedroom practice level amp, I can still practice comfortably at home at low volume levels and she does just fine. This amp can get loud, though. I have had to back her down some on the volume at home. That laquered tweed is just beautiful,...another reason why I bought her. Once those four 10s Jensen P10R speakers get broke in, she will sound even better. This amp is also well built and I would highly recommend it. This amp does NOT need to be modified in any way, so ignore reviews you read where this amp was modified right out of the box because a reviewer claimed it sounded "broken" when he got it, and then voided his warranty with his so-called mods! If I could only have one amp,...my '59 Bassman LTD Vintage Reissue amp would be the one I would keep.

Returned It

(4.0)

Bought online from GC, they shipped a returned unit. This was the third strike with GC for me, so no more. Hello sweetwater.

Not sure about the quality of this amp. The upper-right-most input jack is right up against the tweed; the amp module is mounted slightly crooked. The amp cut out completely when turned below 3. Returned it to GC, hopefully they send it for repair and don't just sell it to the next poor sucker.

What I did hear from a strat plugged into this amp was heaven. Very sad, but not going to buy another.

Bought it brand new after it sitting on the floor of the music store i work at, Took it home, it was ok...still needed to break it in. Took it to a practice not too long after. Loaded the car a little screwy and when i opened the back hatch....it took a dive head first i'd say about 3 feet. After looking at it, plugging it in, sounded great still! Few months later, after unloading from a rather heavy gig, i took it out of the trunk of my car and left it in the street that night on accident. Needless to say, it rained.....all night. Dried it out for a few days. Flipped her on. Worked like a champ, sounded even better. LAST BUT NOT LEAST. Playing a gig in a hole in the wall, with beer on the amp of course....It vibrated itself off and spilled into the chassis. Fried my tubes. Let it sit again for quite a while. New tubes popped in. And man, i'm telling you she sounds better than she ever did. Thank you Fender. Or i might just say. Tank you! And you should see my strat!

This is the best amp I've ever owned. I sold it to fund other amps, regret it very much and will buy me another one. This is hands down the best sounding amp I've ever heard. It's amp porn on a massive scale :-)

THE Holy Grail of Amplifiers

I have an HSS Strat, a Gold Rush Blues Jr III & THE Bassman......let me just say, I've tried Mesa, Egnater, Vox, Marshall JCM's, Tubemeister 36 - the '59 Bassman Reissue is the most versatile, pure and best tone of them all. From clean to grunge to the MOST unholy of holy gain/breakup/fuzz - there is nothing close. Across ALL volume levels, this amp is insane........if I could only have ONE amp forever, this is THE ONE...

I also run a Fulltone Catalyst in front of it - I can't even explain the MAGNIFICENT growls that belch from this rig........

Before you invest in ANYTHING else, run your rig through one of these...........they are a BARGAIN......

On a side note, the pedal allows for SICK tones at low volume...........get it up halfway or higher and I can ASSURE you that you will have a smile worth well more than the price of admission to the Holy Grail of amplifiers........

I love my 59 bassman ltd. But only after I modified it extensively. Truthfully when it was new, it sounded broken. It may have been a manufacturer's defect. But being tech savvy, I completely reworked how it was grounded. Voiding the warranty, but I don't care about that. I believe the circuit board was actually laid out incorrectly. I rebuilt the tone stack and recapped it with capacitors closer to the original. Now I'm in love with it. I play everything through it. I crank it and the gain is great.

Amazing AMP

They got this one right from the beginning.Yes it is simple but it works. It has great tone and a must have for any collection. The 4x10's move a lot of air so it is great for larger venues. Not really a bedroom amp. It can be a warm at lower volumes or a snarling animal at the highest volumes. It is also touch sensitive. You can play with the inputs and even jumper the inputs to achieve different tones. I like Fender Amps. I have had a few over the years but this one is a keeper in my collection. Go out and get one you will not be disappointed.

This is a great easy-to-use amp. It sounds great on its own, just plug in and play. The sounds this amp produces are also enhanced by many different types of effects pedals. It is loud enough for most venues. I like the fact that fender has a card that comes with the amp, enabling you to get basic types of sounds as a starting point.
