This is my first Fender guitar and I like it very much.
I have 8-10 other guitars both acoustic and electric but I find myself playing this instrument when I want an electric guitar.
For the money the Vintage Modified Strat is a great deal which plays well and sounds great.
The overall finish is good but I do have a problem with poorly finished fret ends.
I have had this guitar for two years and as my playing has improved this is a problem when bending a string and dropping off the finger board inadvertently.
I don't believe anyone should have to take a new guitar in for a "tune-up" right off the bat but this seems to be the case with just this one aspect of the instrument.
Tone and playability are superb.
It plays like a much higher priced instrument and sounds good across a range of effects and amps.
I use a VOX Mini for practice which has a variety of different amps and effects built in to it and this guitar works with every combination.
Not a real hard core test amp I know but versatile and portable while allowing me to noodle around with different tones.
THis guitar stays in tune well, has very good pick ups with no noise or hum, the hardware is finished well with typically durable Fender stock.
The large head stock looks cool and good, the overall finish and quality is very well done.
"A" grade overall.
My only issue are the fret ends.
Excellent value for the money.
Bottom line, I would recommend this guitar to anyone seeking value and good sound/tones.

I started late in life learning guitar on a used Epiphone Jr. and Fender frontman. I was looking to buy a new entry level Squier strat at Guitar Center but they did not have one in stock with the rosewood fret board that I wanted. The manager gave me a killer discount on the Vintage Modified with the rosewood he had in stock. I tried it and the neck just felt right. I am a novice and only play to amuse myself but this guitar has made me a better player and is keeping me excited about learning more. I love this guitar ! I have a few friends who are real musicians and are excited that I am playing, when they checked out this new Strat they were amazed at the quality of it. They also were impressed with the tone when THEY played it! Thanks for a fun affordable quality instument.
