More about Classic Vibe Stratocaster® '50s

The Classic Vibe Stratocaster® '50s provides unmistakable '50s-era Fender® vibe and tone. The alder body has a Two-Color Sunburst, Fiesta Red or Olympic White finish. The vintage-tint gloss-maple neck has a maple Fingerboard with 21 medium-jumbo frets and a modern 9.5" radius. That long-familiar tone comes from a custom set of alnico III single-coil pickups, clear and bright, with terrific sustain even in crunch mode. Custom staggered polepieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

Squier strikes again!

(5.0)

Just picked up one of these at my local Fender dealer. It's everything the online and youtube reviews say and then some. It plays and sounds as good as any Strat I've ever owned, American or import! The two tone sunburst looks a lot better in person than the photos. I also tried a 60s Classic Vibe Strat in CAR, but it had poor fretwork and ugly rosewood on the finger board so I passed on it. I'll wait until they get a better one and then I'll buy it, too! Thanks again Fender for making my Strat dreams come true!

Squier CV 50s twotone stratocaster

(5.0)

Amateur Blues Jazz Classic Rock Folk Country Bluegrass Classical

I tried a couple of CV Teles and Strats before I settled on the one I bought. One Tele straight out of the box was poorly set-up and the bridge plate was a little off-centre, which initially made me doubt the quality in general. However, the build quality of the Strat I bought (which happened to be a second-hand trade-in they'd only just taken, which was lucky for me as I saved £100) is excellent. The finish is faultless, the frets are dressed evenly and with no sharp edges, and the neck feels wonderful. The tone is exactly how a 50s vintage Strat should sound - even through my old and cranky solid state Sidekick 15R.

It has been said by some reviewers that the tremolo system is only for show, and does not work. Let me tell you it does. It may come locked down, but it can be made to float very well, with a little patience and know-how. For some reason the tremolo arm is thicker than on the standard Fender guitars, and a little longer I think. This is the only real difference I can discern - apart from the obvious one of having Squier on the headstock.

I would say this to any prospective purchaser; ask to try as many examples as the shop has in stock - and if they grumble go elsewhere. The guitar was quite playable straight away, but I've since gone over the whole instrument and adjusted everything to perfection. It's probably not worth paying a tech to do it for you, so take the trouble to learn how to set everything up yourself. If you can play a few chords you have the dexterity to adjust the instrument.

In summary, I find it hard to tell the difference in quality and tone between the Squier and my old 62 Reissue Japanese Tele Custom I bought in 1991 - and that cost over £400 back then. I love my Tele and will never part with it, but the CV Strat gets played just as often, and the price of a new one is a fantastic bargain. Just try a few out before choosing one.

placid blue 50"s classic vibe

I really really love the sounds of these, you get so much sound for a fairly basic guitar… I love the blues and really this has the crispest sound you could ever ask for… it is a timeless testament of the quality of fender vibes… I play out of a fender hot rod amp, I have a frontman 25 w/ reverb for hanging out or travel… I can not say enough good things about this set up… I first bought the 50's telecaster and I played the heck out of it also a great guitar but I liked the sound of it so much I had to try the stratocaster and let me tell you I am hooked… I also enjoy playing the Squier Jazz bass I have, I love it..

Strat that rocks

(5.0)

I recently bought this guitar, and I am quite satisfied! I tried a few Strats before choosing this one, but is is definitely the one that rocks for the price. I tried a few cheaper Fender Strats (MIM Standard, Balcktop), but I really liked this one better. High quality sunburst finish, real Strat sound, very comfortably trem system. Great action, the 'C' shaped maple neck is fast as lightning. Even using the trem very often the guitar stays in tune! Until buying this instrument I wasn't really convinced that there's a remarkable difference between cheaper and more expensive Squiers, but believe me there is! The CV series is closer to the lower-end Fenders including Classic series. It's even better than some of them...

This is a very playable and great sounding guitar for the price. The one I purchased had perfect intonation right out of the box! The action was great. It needed no additional set up. I love this guitar.

Classic Vibe Stratocaster 50's review

(5.0)
kristiangullner on February 19, 2013
Amateur Blues

First of all i would just like to point out that i don't own this particular instrument, but since i've played it a several times i am now planing a purchase of it.

DESIGN: When i first saw this guitar i was kinda worried about the Squier label since i referred to that as a guitar label you first start to play on. Like something you can get at a supermarket. But just by holding the guitar, even as a beginner, you can totally feel that the classic vibe series is really good quality guitars. Classic Vibe is a the absolute top of the Squier series and i would genuinely question wherever or not you can tell the difference (in terms of build quality) of a classic vibe and a similarly priced fender. (The alder body for example has the same material as the standard strat). The testament that this is a great guitar is that bands like Biffy Clyro plays these guitars.
And as i am writing about the design i would just like to point out that i like the classic colors of the pickups, however i would liked to have a deeper tone on the 2 color sunburst. Perhaps a 3 color? Well that's just me. The c-shape neck is also really nice to hold onto and it has nice big frets.

SOUND: The CV has that classic strat sound, you really get that crisp 50-60s sound with the different pickups which you have the availability to use in 5 ways (out of phase sounds between the pickups) with the switch. So there is so much of variety in tone to chose between. So in overall i think that the pickups are really amazing.
Personally i think that the only downside is that the whammy isn't fully functional since it is bolted down, it just for show..

CONCLUSION: This is a guitar with amazing quality level and i think that it is perfect for Amateurs/Beginners who feel that they want to spend that little extra on a guitar that they feel is really nice. I personally am getting this guitar since it looks so damn good. I want to be around a guitar that i feel i just want to pick it up and play it every time i walk past it. As far as how it sounds i can't really compare it to anything since i haven't played for more than three years (just have an acoustic guitar) but the sound is as mentioned great. The guitar is also very easy to play with a very comfortable smaller c-shaped neck and frets with nice space.
Just by holding this guitar in the store and playing a couple of songs i instantly felt that this is a must have guitar for me, as my first electric guitar. (it is also labeled as a fender on the guitar stock (the head) so you know that it is good quality when they put their name there.)
