First let me tell you I loved my amp. Beautiful soulful tone and vibe. No need at all for any boxes to get a singing melodic sustain full of cream or lusty clean jazz. She had looks for miles. I could only call this amp a great love. Reverb that wanted to carry the sounds you made as if to God.
Then there was a horrible feeling of a buzz then volume drop out. But then that the sound that I loved was back. Then that maddening buzz then drop again. I fought through. Every good relationship has an argument. Next day same thing.
I notified my local dealer who was 120 miles away. He said bring it in. We got it to the "authorized Fender repair" guy. The repair man said let's replace the tubes. We did.
I was going to celebrate by getting her a flight case. Drove to my home. I plugged her in pulled one of my guitars out. That beautiful sound kissed my ears and reached into my heart again It did it again!
After 3 or 4 times trying to get it repaired, there were more issues. My love could not be fixed. The tone I loved and still lust after would be forever unreliable. Not to be trusted.
I still want an amp like this. I want that sound. I will pay money for that sound but.....

I just bought a Super-Sonic 60 last night. I found a trick to play at bedroom level. I use a short cable in the effects loop and turn the send and return knobs to minimum, then I can crank up the volume of the Vibrolux/Bassman clean channel 4 and get that breakup tone at bedroom level. It would've been nice to get the option of lower wattage selection, like 30W and 15W.

Being a baby boomer, I was around during the heyday of early Fender amps. It's great to see that in 2014, I can still get "That Sound Man!" from a Fender combo.
My needs are simple, an all valve amp with the punch of a bassman, the clarity of a Vibrolux and lo and behold it's all in the Super Sonic 60. Fender can be proud of this amp, a real asset for guitarists craving the tone we hear on the records we grew up with.
I mainly use the clean channel and for smaller gigs, connect the send & receive at the back panel and use the send/return knobs as an attenuator. This allows the amp to crank up without blowing the roof off the venue.
I can't speak much of the gain channel as I don't use it although I noticed the gain channel switches to the Vibrolux setting even when the amp is set to Bassman.
So, even though this review is short and sweet, the crux of it is if you want that classic Fender sound everyone talks about and don't want to pay a kings ransom for a 60's Bassman or Vibrolux, then get yourself a Super Sonic 60 and be done with it. 'Nuff Said!

Supersonic 60 is awesome - it has an effects loop and you can set the send/return levels of signal, which is really awesome. Even if you do not have any effects, simply plug in a standard jack-jack cable (one that's as short as possible), set the send/return levels in such a way that the sound is louder when you have the FX loop turned on and you've got yourself a booster for free. It has a 3-button footswitch, one button changes between Vibrolux and Bassman channel (the EQ settings are the same for both, Bassman is a bit louder and has a thicker sound, Vibrolux is a bit less loud and has an awesome sound for funky rhythms or stuff like that), the second button engages Burn channel and the third one engages the FX loop. So you can basically use the FX loop as a booster for solos.
You can also crank the amp enough to get tube distortion, turn on the FX loop and decrease the send/return levels to get tube distortion at a reasonable volume which won't make you deaf.
The amp is very versatile. No need for an overdrive or distortion or fuzz - the amp does it all if you need that. You can get highly distorted sounds, 'newage distortion' quite suitable for metal (although for extreme distortion uses I'd still recommend getting an additional pedal), and you can also get a good old fashion overdrive sound and turn that into a crounchy sound or bluesy type of overdrive just with turning the volume pot on your guitar.
As for the sound itself - it's GREAT. It has enough clean headroom, VERY loud (I didn't turn it past 1 and a quarter on band session and we do have a very loud drummer), VERY responsive to pick attack. Clean is as good as it gets, overdrive is as good as it gets and you don't need any effect to get the overdrive, which is awesome. The reverb.. Fender spring reverb, need I say more?
searching for cons with this amp is nitpicking really. What might be cons for some , might be pros for some. If you are searching for a tube amp SS60 is a way to go.

I bought this amp to replace a Mesa Boogie I bought about three months ago. The Boogie had [a] decent gain channel(s) but a lousy clean channel, not the case with the Supersonic. The Supersonic has a beautiful clean channel, ay, two beautiful clean channels. One is a classic vibrolux and the other is a 60's era bassman, and both sound incredible. With the two gain stages, one can add as little or as much gain to the two clean channels as one would want, eliminating the need for an extra overdrive/distortion pedal. The gains when cranked sounds as heavy as you would need for everything except extreme metal. What I mean is that everything from SRV blues to Deep Purple to Tool is available on this amp. I couldn't play Slayer on it as it stands, but add a distortion pedal and a compressor and you're there. I played a Stratocaster and a Hamer archtop through the amp and both sounded amazing. Jazz lines sound as if the amp was made to play jazz. A tele played through the vibrolux channel with a little gain added sounded great with rich harmonics and slight sustain; all without any external pedals.
My only criticism, and one that is solvable with the addition of a pedal, is the amp doesn't have that great fender vibrato on board. Even if just the clean channel had the vibrato, then that would add some beautiful tone to the amp. The reverb is still the best you'll get on any amp these days.
I have played a lot of amps in my day and I have never played one with such great clean tones and blistering gain tones. I never write reviews but felt I had to as I have finally found an amp that sounds clean when you want great cleans and heavy when you want heavy. Quite an accomplishment.

Love this amp. I play clean 80% of the time. Never had problems with this amp, at any of my gigs with my band. With volumes set properly, you can switch between a Vibrolux tone to a Bassman amp tone and add crunch/burn to boot. Well made, with that Fender Tube-Tone we all know and love. I have played thru and owned many Fender amps over the years, 1965 Bandmaster (first amp), blues Jr., hot rod deluxe, blues deluxe, 74 Twin reverb, 74 Pro reverb, 65 Deluxe reverb reissue, 65 Princeton reverb reissue, 94 vibro-king, etc.,. all great amps. Wish I had some of those amps, still, that's another story. Anyway, this amp covers all my needs. I play Classic rock, Blues, Country and southern rock and this amp covers them all. We play small pubs to large halls. If you had to limit yourself to one amp, this bad boy will do the trick.

I have the v1 model and had it from new. I don't gig it and have it available 24/7 in my dining room for when I feel like sounding like Kenny Wayne Shepherd with my 73 original STRAT.
Yes this is a LOUD amp but I despair at the bemoners of this fact as you don't need to drive this amp for good warm tones - everyone misses the point it seems. I do not like High Gain Super Noodling and I hardly use the BURN. I prefer to drive the Bassman Channel for this or dial back down the Burn for some nice edgey Blues tone and roll up the guitar vol to drive it over a little. Oh and another thing - The BASSMAN channel is designed around the 60s BASSMAN - not the TWEED BASSMAN...
One trick I have is putting a Vibe pedal in front with my Strat and some call up lush reverb and it sounds awesome...
I love the VIBROLUX channel the best though - crystalline sparkling tones that just beg you to funk-up or deliver some Motown Soul Riffs.
I Love the Brownface/Blonde 60s vibe too - hell it even looks as good as the Vibro~King which I have a soft spot for. BUT hang on a minute - I also have a 65 Super Reverb and I have this desire to stereo them up and wind them up and then I am sure I could achieve that Vibro~King tone but the benefit of two amps with individual personalities! I just need a house in the middle of nowhere and some long guitar cable!

This is a really great sounding amp.
I use it mostly for larger venues or when I'm playing outdoors.
The guitar I like to use with this amp is my U.S. Vintage Series '72 Telecaster Thineline. A great matching pair.
The clean channel with the Bassman sound is a really nice fat, punchy rounded sound. I also like the Burn channel.
One of the features that sold me on this amp is the effects loop. I like the volume controls on the send and return. Just plug a short patch cord, and you're set.
I leave the patch cord in the loop. I don't use pedals. I use the loop for boost when I need it.
Another feature I like. If I decide to get the matching 212 cabinet, the amp automatically selects the ohms for me.
The reverb is nice.
Great sound and it's plenty loud.
It's a good amp to have in my stable.

I recently purchased this amp. Besides its beautiful retro 60's look, the tone is just amazing. I've always wanted a Bassman, and now I have one... But wait, I now have a Vibroverb. And for the times I want to get down and dirty? Yep, I've got that covered. No pedals required! I am totally floored with the full, rich tones of this amp. At low "bedroom" volumes, this amp actually sounds pretty darn good. Crank it up, and you're having you own personal "Spinal Tap" moment. Just pure "super"- sonic bliss. I'm overjoyed with this amp and it will be making its stage debut soon. The tilt back legs help me out tremendously on stage as well as the use of the effects loop as a solo boost. It has a nice big stage presence being nearly the size of a Fender Twin. My only issue, which isn't that big of a deal, the amp has a little hiss in a quiet room. I believe it's because it's a 60watt all tube amp, so it's not going to be ultra quiet, but it can be ultra loud. Again, fantastic amp, costs a bit more then other Fender amps, but well below boutique amps out there.

This is a truly great amp/combo. It's got great Fender tones in spades. Loud too, yet I can play it in the back room at home without disturbing everyone too much. The vintage channel is very versatile. Great Bassman sound. If you crank it and use your guitars volume and tone it is great for mainstream blues to rock. Toned down it's soulful and warm. The Vibroverb setting is equally good. Clean as a whistle all the way up to 10. Dial in some of that delicious Fender reverb for a lush clean shimmer. Instant Robert Cray. The thing I also like about the vintage channel is the simple eq. Bass and Treble. I keep them both at around 12 o'clock and the amp and guitars speak for themselves. Strat, Tele or one of those humbuckered jobs from Memphis or Kalamazoo.. D'ya wanna rock? Kick in the burn channel. Twin gains offer incredible variety from classic rock to melt your face metal. You can even set the gains for a sound that will clean up as you roll back the guitar volume, and sting when cranked. Doesn't sound to bad when the amp Volume is down either. Overdrive pedals in the front, modulation and delay via the effects loop.. Just everything I need and nothing I don't. (Hey that's kinda catchy, has anyone used that before?)

I have owned this amp for several years, and gig with it regularly. It has always sounded fantastic, and is virtually bulletproof. I use the Bassman channel with stomp boxes (Fulltone OCD, Analogman King Of Tone, Fulltone Plimsoul) for my overdrive and distortion. I play rock covers, so I need a lot of different sounds. This amp is very musical, and responds nicely to your touch. Play lightly, and it cleans right up, especially with single coils. Play harder and it really roars. I also use the effects loop as a way to keep the volume down. This amp is LOUD, which is my only complaint. Using the effects loop, I can "choke" the amp, making it usable in smaller clubs. It also has the famous Fender reverb. I use just a touch of it, and it really adds to my sound, giving it a shimmer that is unmistakably Fender.
All in all, this was a great buy. I think if I was buying one now, I'd look at the Super Sonic that was based on the Deluxe. 22 watts is a little easier to deal with in most situations than 60!

I really liked this amp, great tone - across the two vintage voices and the burn channel (my favourite). And its really loud too - which sadly, is why I finally got rid of it, I just couldn't stretch its legs enough in my lounge room. But if you've the need for a versatile gigging (or garage jamming) amp then this could well be the amp for you!
