I've had this Standard Strat Plus Top for about a week now and I can't stop looking at it! I bought the Aged Cherry Burst with the maple fretboard and the finish is just gorgeous. Plays great with my Line 6 amplifier. I bought this Strat because I want to start learning some blues and instantly fell in love with the Cherry Burst look. Can't wait to continue learning and playing on this guitar. After doing some research, this guitar is great value for the quality and I plan on jamming with this for many years to come.

After playing acoustic exclusively for several years, I started getting the itch to play electric again. I wanted something from a well-respected manufacturer, but I'm not a wealthy person, so price was a big factor. I had always liked the look of an SG, and went to a music store to try out the least-expensive one they make. It played okay, but I was pretty disappointed with the quality of the wood and the finish. You get what you pay for though, right?
But then I turned around and saw this absolutely gorgeous Strat - cherry burst, flame maple top - for the same price as that sorry SG! The real thrill came when I played it though - the neck felt great, the fretboard was fast, the bending was effortless.
I bought the Strat, based partly on how beautiful it was, but mostly on how it felt, without ever plugging it in. Now, several weeks have gone by, I'm even more delighted with it. Between the 5-way selector switch, the dual tone controls, and the volume knob, the array of great sounds you can achieve is fantastic. Plus you get the added fun of the whammy bar!
I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this guitar, especially at this price.

I need to begin by saying that I avoided the Fender Strat for a long time. I just didn't prefer the shape as compared to a LP style.
But then I ordered this one, with the maple fret-board. And now I'm wrecked when it comes to playing my other guitars with rosewood-fret-boards.This neck is like glass! Very smooth and very fast! And the tones coming out of this guitar paired with a Fender Super Champ XD amp are so silky smooth and the bends are so effortless on this guitar that I can hardly pick up a different guitar.
So thanks Fender for making such a great guitar! I've seen the light and now I know why these guitars are so popular.Who cares about the shape? It's about the sound!
And thanks Fender (sarcastically) for wrecking me for my other guitars!

This is a very good sounding and good looking Stratocaster, you can play almost everything with this guitar. I have plans for one another, it will be the one with the humbucker next time. I have only done some minor adjustments to the guitar when I received it. I have no plans for swap out the pickups, they sound perfect. Thanks Fender!

I recently received the Cherry Sunburst/Maple Fingerboard model for Christmas and couldn't be happier! The tone is absolutely wonderful when I play different types of music, from pop rock to jazz. The neck feels so good in the hand, along with the maple fingerboard, which allows for easy bends. The alternative sunburst on the body makes the guitar so attractive. All in all, I would definitely recommend this piece.

I have owned many guitars in the 30 years that I have played. My main guitar for a long time was my 89 Strat Plus. I also had a modified MIM Tex-Mex HSS, which I loved. I got this one at a local music store, and it was hanging with all the MIA Strats. Then I saw the price, and had to check the back of the headstock. MIM? Wow! The playability is fantastic. I'm playing through a Frontman 212, (that I bought the same day), and this combination is awesome! And I have had numerous Fender tube amps. The really cool part is that I got this beautiful guitar, that plays wonderfully, a rugged amp, a Gator case and an 18' Fender cord, all for under $1000. I may get a Mustang Floor board for the effects. But this guitar is just beautiful. Get one. You won't be disappointed.

Well ... this is my first Standard, and i have to say it's pretty beautiful, i chose the Tobacco Sunburst with rosewood fingerboard and it sounds very clean, easy and fun to play, the plus top make it look very nice. The pickups could be better, but they are ok for the guitar price. I recommend it.

This is my first Strat and I have been looking for awhile for the one that called out to me. I am an intermediate player who plays guitar for my own enjoyment, I will never be the next SRV but then again is? I have previously bought a Mexican Telecaster and was impressed with it's finish, quality, and playability and was expecting the same with a Mexican Strat. I found this on the wall at my local GC and the Plus Top Cherry Burst finish just jumped out at me. Yes it was $549.00 and I was impressed with the quality of the instrument for that price. It impressed me so much I decided to bring it home and have been playing it ever since. THIS one is not being sold or traded for anything else. Again...the High end Fenders are beautiful but they should be reserved for the top of the line players who can make them sing. I will buy another Fender...They have personality and look great..(maybe a Swirl or a Roadhouse is next) Choices, Choices.

Let me start by saying I am not a professional musician, in my 30 years of playing the guitar on and off it was always a dream to own a Fender Stratocaster and now that dream has come true.. What made me choose this particular model? Well the biggest selling point was the Flame Maple Top... that just makes this guitar ooze with style and beauty. The music store I got it from didn't have one in stock at the time to try as it was just released so I bought mine sight unseen and it was a little nerve racking to spend this kind of money ( $549.99) on a guitar that you haven't even checked out (I don't make a lot of money so this was a lot for me to spend on a "hobby") but when it arrived in less than a week of ordering it I fell in love with it immediately, the feel of this was so smooth, and the neck is just amazing in both feel and comfort. The vintage tremolo (vibrato bar) is great as well, so far when I do a few dive bombs it stays relatively in tune.
For the price this Made in Mexico Stratocaster is far above most guitars.. and for someone like me who just plays for my own amusement this guitar is just perfect. you REALLY cannot go wrong with this deal. For years I have always seen the Made in Mexico Strats as a low quality "Copy" of this great instrument, but that is FAR from the truth, sure they don't use the CHOICE woods or top of the line hardware, but this is not even close to being a low quality guitar.
Now that I have your attention I must say that there were a couple SMALL issues that were easily taken care of, first the 5 way pickup selector switch didn't want to go into the bridge position easily it was like something was blocking it, and secondly there was a little fret buzz but once the store set it up she plays perfectly.. both of these "issues" are not even a problem and I lost no sleep over it.
In closing I would have to say that the guitar that I got is WELL worth the money paid!!

Went with my buddy to a music shop to pick out a new guitar. We looked at everything from Gibsons to IBanez, and all in between. When I saw the HSS sister to this one on the wall. Tag said it was $549. I thought this was a used, but mint strat; however, the salesman said this was new and if we wanted to see a fresh sss out of the box he can grab it. So after taking him up on his offer, what came out of the box was a completely beautifully crafted MIM guitar. The only issue with it was one of the strings not settled on the saddle. quick fix after loosing the e string and resetting it. Other than that quick adjustment, this thing was flawless. the plus top has this 3d affect to it's quilting that was super sweet. the neck felt sweet with the right amount of action. Tone was spot on. perfect set up from the factory (other than the saddle/string issue). An absolute winner for the price.
