This was my main stage guitar between 2002 and 2004. It was an absolute monster that could be dialed back for the most amazing tone and expression. The only warning that I'd give is to make sure the pickup heights are set and balanced. Mine initially had too much treble on the neck and ended up taking a few heads off. Balanced, though. perfect for my tastes.

This is the second Classic Series '72 Tele Thinline I have owned. It is so different than any other Fender I have. First of all, I love the Natural ash finish. I love the vintage neck radius. So easy to play and I bought it with the action very low and I use .009's on it. Now, the sound! The two humbuckers give it such a beefy tone. They may not be as good as the original Seth Lover designed ones, but they sure work for me. And the semi-hollow body just makes this thing come alive! You could go for the American made model but this will more than suffice! Oh yeah, it is also LIGHT as a feather! Now, that can't be said for too many Telecasters!

Fender definitely capture the classic looks of the '72 Thinline. With unmistakable F hole , mother of pearl pickguard ,engrave Fender logo on the Wide Range pickups,250K potentiometers , 70's tuners and beautiful natural finish. This guitar looks good and plays well .The body , neck, finish are perfect I set this guitar up with 10's and had no problem with setting intonation as well the action to spec's . My big grip from factory is poor job on the fret dressings . After some work on the frets the guitar plays great and with the semi hollow body it is a nice guitar to play acoustic . That comes in handy in early morning or late night jam where you can not plug in . The Wide Range pickups are not threaded CuNiFe magnets of the original design Seth Lover made for Fender in the 70's .The new pickups have a different sound from the originals . But, it does not mean that it lacks in tone. They are the quietest humbucker I have ever played. I play mostly Fender amps 68 bandmaster, 67 princeton reverb, 65 Super Reverb reissue and a champ. I find it easy to get the tone I want from this guitar with no problem . I get a very rich overdrive when wanted to push an amp.Clean tones are almost singel coil like with spank and you can dig in for growl . Playing slide will take you to the delta. I'm a telecaster man and this man is very happy with his '72 thinline. Thanks Fender.
