Fender's new Classic series '70s Precision Bass authentically evokes the era when our first bass rocked with more versatile use than ever, from prog to punk and metal to funk. Vintage touches include bass-side thumb rest (first adopted in 1974), '70s-style large headstock logo and bound neck with block inlays.
Features also include an alder body, C-shaped maple neck, maple fretboard with 9.5" radius and 20 vintage-style frets, classic split single-coil pickup, three-ply black-white-black pickguard, knurled control knobs (volume, tone), vintage-style four-saddle bridge and '70s-style "Fender"-stamped open-gear tuners.

Having owned this bass for 6 months, I can only say I've grown to love it more every month. The build quality and tone are superb. I switched out the original pickups with '62 Custom Shop pickups (highly recommended). The original pickups.... leave something to be desired. Now my bass is as good as any American standard sound wise and looks better than any one of them too. You will get comments and compliments wherever you take this bass. A great P that truly stands out.

I am a huge fan of the Geddy Lee jazz bass, mainly because of the awesome neck, so when this bass was released I wanted one. I tried one in my local music shop and although a weeny bit wider, the neck was as heavenly to play as the Geddy, plus it had great vintage p-bass tone. The white one was the one I was after - very Paul Simonon/Sid Vicious - and as luck would have it I found one on ebay for a bargain price. I tend to always modify my basses and I replaced the bridge with a Babicz, which wasn't strictly speaking necessary but to take full advantage of the gorgeous p-bass tone I strung it with flatwounds and I use it mainly for soul/Motown/funk and blues. I have another Squier p-bass for punk/rock/etc. and also a lovely Japanese 51 reissue (now discontinued) that is strung with flatwounds and mainly used for blues, but it's this p-bass that I use the most. It is heaven to play and really the only p-bass you will ever need. Highly recommended!
