The Jazz Bass debuted in 1960 and captured the essence of the era—an instrument as great sounding and groundbreaking as the decade itself. Strong, clear and versatile, it gave bassists everywhere a powerful new voice and a fast new feel that would only grow bolder in the decades that followed.
The Classic Series '60s Jazz Bass Lacquer evokes the instrument in the decade of its origin, with vintage style and an authentic nitrocellulose lacquer finish on its sleekly offset alder body. Other features include an ultra-slim "C"-shaped maple neck, 7.25"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 20 vintage-style frets and white-dot inlays, dual vintage-style single-coil alnico pickups, four-ply brown shell pickguard, four-saddle American Vintage bass bridge, and vintage-style reverse tuners. Tweed case included.

This is my ultimate Jazz bass short of an original 60's Jazz in mint condition! Having started out as a bass player back in the 70s I always dreamed about having a 60s Jazz but could never afford one! Well, this is an answer to a prayer! When she arrived I took special care to let her get acclimated to my house. Once she was ready I set her up(which needed barely any adjustment). The tone on this gem is amazing! she definitely sounds like the classic Jazz basses of old before the 70's movement of the rear pup. Nice big, fat, focused tone! It has its own growl that is refined yet wild! This is my main bass for everything! Thank You Fender for making such a wonderful instrument!

I bought this bass because I had previously owned the poly finished version and always regretted parting with it. I tracked down what must be one of the first to arrive in England, and after playing it in the shop was convinced that it is a better bass than its predecessor. I also own a 2008 US Standard Jazz Bass, and this classic sounds and feels every bit as good, but with a different character.
The finish is beautifully applied, and a first for me, the bass was perfectly set up out of the box, neck relief, action, intonation, and pick up height all spot on. I've already played one small gig and a 3 hour rehearsal with it, the fact that I left my Standard at home and took the Classic reveals my faith in it.
A Classic in more than name alone, the rosewood fingerboard, tortoiseshell pick guard and lacquer sunburst help me feel that I have a genuine classic that will acquire a unique character as I play it over the years ahead.
The supplied hard shell tweed case is a nice extra. I awarded only 4 stars for the value as UK prices mean I paid over $1300 for my bass.
