More about American Deluxe Telecaster® Ash

Fender's American Deluxe Telecaster® guitar is the 21st century way to rock with a Telecaster, graced by the added distinction of a traditional ash body. The compound radius fingerboard allows effortless string bending anywhere along the neck, and staggered locking tuners improve tuning stability for stunt guitarists who like to bend behind the nut. N3 Noiseless™ pickups provide improved Telecaster tones for snappy bell-like chime with no the hum; other features include S-1™ switching and chromed brass bridge saddles.

Beauty but small, boring problems

(4.0)
peterkirschner on March 18, 2014 (updated March 18, 2014)
Alternative Pop Rock

I bought this guitar in 2012 to be a spare piece for concerts, beside my vintage 1974's big-head Stratocaster.

When it was brand new, it's sound was OK but nothing especially good compared to my old Strat.

But, some hardware parts, like jack socket, neck pickup screws and the volume potmeter adjective screw were not properly tightened, and for a 1700 euro guitar, I was wondering because of that and that it took some repair work on the very first day.... Bad first feelings…
(
Next year I bought a Duesenberg Starplayer TV for similar amount and that was so totally and incredibly perfect). Sometimes the screws needs some small tightening again.

:(

So maybe because this bad introductipn I used it only a few times in the first two years, but in the last 6 months I tried it again in studio and that sessions were very succesful, Also I learned a lot about how to play to get the best sound on the guitar. So now I am much more satisfied than in the first times. Totally noiseless, good sound, great playability. I am using it with Vox, Fender and Mesaboogie tube amps . The best result comes from the Fender amps, unlike the Strat, whose better mate is the Mesa (when I play)

But now I can say, this Tele plays an important role in my everyday work, and very good alternative of the Strat and the Duesi.
This year I used it a lot, and it's nice round, "spheric" and tinkling clean notes and the very agressive option when you push the volume potmeter in the middle position of the pickup swithch when pushing the amp, makes me happy:)

Just an outstanding piece of craftsmanship. The neck is the best I've ever played . My other guitars are gathering dust!
I was a little skeptical about the N-3 pups, but I actually like them quite a bit. Great for recording, very quiet.
Weight and balance perfect.

My Favorite Guitar

Out of all the guitars I own, 7 in total, this one is my favorite and the one I reach for most of the time. This is built like it came out of the Fender Custom Shop and it sounds like it too. It plays like a dream and the S1 switching makes the neck and bridge pickup sound like a hot rodded humbucker with great tone and perfect for playing heavy rock. The weight is spot on and the neck feels like butter. If you love Telecasters and love Fender this would make the perfect guitar for your arsenal. It's as top of the line as you can get for a great price.

A few years ago I had a conversation with a friend of mine at the neighborhood music store about what might tempt me to buy an electric guitar again. A few weeks later he called me up at home and said, "Hey, I think I've got your guitar down here. Why don't you stop by and try it out." It turned out to be the American Deluxe Ash Telecaster. Needless to say, it turned out to be just exactly what I wanted in an electric guitar, and I ended up buying it. The local music store is excellent about tweaking the set-up prior to sale, and so the one I bought came out of the case with playing perfectly and perfectly intonated. I'm not a super traditionalist, and so Fender has struck the perfect note for me in this guitar, producing a blend of a traditional and quite beautiful look with modern playability, sound and adaptability. I love the design of the bridge, which is easy to adjust and makes for easy restringing. The tuners are solid, easy to get into tune and they stay in tune nicely. The guitar takes well to a low action, and it's simply very easy to play. The noiseless pickups have been genuinely noiseless for me, and they work great for computer based recording and playing through iOS apps and modeling devices and software. They really take to tube amps, and particularly like tube Fender amps, especially some of the relatively low wattage ones, although I've also gotten great chime through some Voxes. They also like a compressor, and stay pretty noiseless even when compressed. And they like a bit of reverb. The S-1 switch adds some nice weight when used in the middle position. All of that said, the guitar also really sounds nice just played acoustically, with a nice singing sustain all on its own. All in all, this has been the perfect electric guitar for me and I haven't had a shred of buyer's remorse.

My Favorite - The American Deluxe Tele® Ash

(5.0)
jonnny on February 18, 2013
Semi-Professional Blues R&B Rock Classic Rock

I purchased mine a few years back. It has the abalone fret dots and does not have the locking tuners.
The piece of Ash that was selected for my guitar was a great choice.
It is very light...very cool

I am very happy with this guitar.

The only thing that I would have wished for is that more of the fine tuning of the setup could have been done at the factory.
I took mine to a Fender authorized repair shop to do the setup.
I was not real happy with the end result and not happy with the way they treated the guitar and they charged me a lot.
Chipped the truss rod hole. Scratched the guitar, dented the aluminum channel on the case.
Fenders does a much better job than the shops.

For the price it seems like Fender could have spent about five more minutes to double check it.

I am very picky and try to keep my guitars like brand new.

So my sniveling really has nothing to do with Fender other than I would like to see them be a little more selective with their authorized repair shops.

But don't get me wrong...I am planning on buying several more Fender guitars, and I love the brand new ones as Fender leads the industry in technological advances and fit and finish in the manufacturing process.

The Perfect Tele

(5.0)

Amateur Blues Rock Classic Rock

The American Deluxe Ash Tele has the perfect amount of bang for the buck. The looks are retro-cool, the fit and finish are fantastic and you could ask for better Tele twang and playability. If you are a Tele player or just want to be one, you owe it to yourself to try this guitar out. You'll love it.
