when I bought my Standard Stratocaster, I was already very happy with the stock pickups. But then I discovered the CS69 PUs and decided to put them into my guitar. And I was not disappointed for one minute. The pickups sound great, especially in my favorite musical styles of classic Bluesrock, Hardrock etc. I would buy them again anytime.

I have three Strats and the other two already had Texas Specials and 57/62's. When I got a third Strat three years ago, I wanted a different character from the other two and the salesman, with many years of experience as a player, directly me to the CS69's; told me they were the best all-around pups in the Fender lineup and very versatile for all styles of music. Was a little skeptical but upon return from the shop after installation, my tech kept talking about the "tone on that neck pup" when he turned over the guitar. Incredible is the only word to describe the neck pup; much clearer, full and defined to me than the same position on the TS or 62's. I play a lot of live blues and love the Specials for the bite in the mix, and the 62's for subtle quieter work/songs (think Little Wing) but I have to agree with their overall versatiliy; I play the 69's the most at home when practicing and learning songs. As soon as I get my next Strat (have to find the right one) for live work, I am going for it; a 69 neck pup-62 middle-and Special bridge pup. However, if I could only have one strat-one set of pups, I would go with the CS 69's; you will not be dissappointed at how versatile they are whether clean or overdriven. Only complaint is the weakness/tone of the bridge pup (same issue I have with the 62 bridge pup) but the neck/mid positions are a dream by themselves and in positions 2 & 4; quack-funk city. Great all around choice.
