Fender® brings you the authentic sound of the Hawaiian Islands with its first-ever series of ukulele models. Ukuleles are enjoying renewed popularity, with exquisite sounds and designs that are a far cry from mere musical toys. Originally built by Portuguese immigrants to the Hawaiian Islands in the 1880s, the small guitar-like instruments produced a lilting sound that instantly evoked the lush South Pacific atmosphere of their island homeland.
Upgraded for 2014 to sound and play even better, Fender ukuleles now feature new bracing patterns, arched backs, thicker fingerboards, thinner headstocks, bone nuts and non-compensated bone saddles, and thinner finishes. The South Seas never sounded so good!

This ukulele is cheap, but the quality is great. A great quality for a great price, making it a great instrument. While it could be a bit prettier and goes out of tune pretty easily (I've owned mine for about two years, still have to tune every day I play it), it's great for starting out and for traveling. I got mine at a pawn shop for ~$100 in Steamboat, so don't doubt looking for it secondhand!

I got this uke second hand from the local pawnshop for travelling so I didn't wreck my good fancy-maple Kala uke. I put some new Aquila strings on it - the trouble is I now play it more than the Kala because it has a great sound and is very playable. Once the strings were bedded in it never goes out of tune. It's not the prettiest thing but it's well built and distinctive with its tele-shaped head. Great value for the money.
