347 Shape Classic Celluloid Picks

Model #: 0980347700
347 Shape Picks, 12 Pack, Shell, Thin

Celluloid is the premier pick material. Celluloid picks give the traditional feel, with a smooth striking surface and a warm, round musical tone. A more oval shaped pick, the 347 is a nice compromise for a player looking for something slightly smaller than the traditional Fender® pick shape.

This is the best design for a pick ever conceived, and a lot of talented players use them. I have no clue why Fender decided to discontinue the 347. These are two picks in one- the round end is what I use 90% of the time because it offers the least resistance. This is the same principle of how you cut your nails when playing finger-style. Since it is perfectly round, no matter how you hold it, the pick edge is never in the wrong place. And of course the pointed end is right there when you need it for passages requiring extra clarity and articulation. The angle of the point is just right, and not so aggressive that it gets caught up in the strings. The celluloid material maybe a little dark for some players liking, but at least there is no clickety-clack sound, which I think personally is a deal-breaker with a lot of picks, especially harder/heavier ones. With the 347 off the market, I now have to make the decision of whether to choose one of many one-dimensional disappointing picks or spend $20-$75 APIECE for some boutique pick which will probably also be one-dimensional and disappointing. Please bring the 347 back.
