I've given this bass five stars across the board because this JB is so well made and sounds so good. It's such a versatile instrument. With a bit of EQ-ing, It's got thump and growl and everything in between. I own a Ric, a Hofner, and the Jazz Bass, but for the cover band I'm in, the JB performs so well--lots of power in those single coil pickups. It can't do what the Hofner or Ric can do, but the JB covers a lot of ground for the many genres my band plays.

This is a high quality Jazz, with a beautiful deep sunburst finish, superb neck, and great pickups and hardware. It has all the classic Jazz tones and is a pleasure to play. I like the combination of vintage looks and sounds with modern features such as the high mass bridge, lightweight tuners and graphite reinforcement - I can't find any dead spots on the neck, unlike some older Fenders I've owned.
My one complaint with this instrument: although Fender reverse the wiring so that the knobs rotate in the opposite direction for lefties, they retain the regular audio pots. This results in a useless tone control that has no effect for 95% of its travel, then shuts off all the high frequencies like a switch, and also produces somewhat odd volume control behaviour. At this price level I'm disappointed, as left handed pots are easy to obtain.
Also, I'd like to see a maple fingerboard offered as an option, as it is for the right handed basses. I note that the lefty Stratocasters come with rosewood or maple, so it can't be impossible, can it?

My first left-handed Fender was a 1976 Precision that I ordered new and still own. I love what Fender has done to their modern jazz basses. They're just perfect. The 3 tone sunburst finish is masterfully applied and is a work of art in and of itself. I love the modern 9 1/2" neck radius. It's very comfortable and super playable. The High Mass bridge is an excellent design well executed. True tonal greatness resides in the Custom Shop pickups. I've heard a lot of pickups in my lifetime, and these are just killer. I can't rave about them enough. The overall craftsmanship is world class all the way. I'll be keeping this bass the rest of my life.
