1968 was a transitional year for Fender amps, with tone that was still pure Fender but a look that was brand new. With a silver-and-turquoise front panel and classy aluminum “drip edge” grille cloth trim, the Twin Reverb received a fresh new face as it remained the backline amp of choice for pros and amateurs everywhere. Clear, deep and powerful, it produced big tube tone, with world-class Fender reverb and vibrato effects. For countless guitarists ever since, the Twin Reverb has been the go-to amp for classic Fender sound.
The ’68 Custom Twin Reverb Amp pays tribute to the classic look, sound and performance of Fender’s late-’60s “silver- face” amps. In a special twist, both channels boast reverb and tremolo, and the “custom” channel has a modified Bassman® tone stack that gives modern players greater tonal flexibility with pedals. The amp also features quicker gain onset and reduced negative feedback for greater touch sensitivity. The ’68 Custom Twin Reverb’s dual 12” Celestion® G12V-70 speak- ers also deliver a more distinctively rock ‘n’ roll flavor.

This amp is fantastic. Its boutique tone at a good price. Many players have been searching for vintage tone but must resort to buying old amps off E-bay to get it. Then replace tube after tube, caps, speakers, trani's, circuits-becouse someone else modded it-, and by the time your done it ends up costing you $2,000 bucks. You dont gig with a rare or old vintage amp they're priceless. You keep them to record in the studio or at home. So what do you do? You buy this amp-thats what you do. First off its two classic amps in one-bassman and twin-one for each side. Its several cool features include reverb and tremelo work on both the twin and the bassman circuits (very cool). The speakers are Celestion 12's that can chime like vintage speakers can without getting "ice picky" on the highs yet they break up great with a distortion pedal. The cleans this amp gets are beautiful and shimmering on the twin side-much more vintage sounding then other Twin Reverb models-and the Bassman side is awsome for fattening up your strat tone and for Jazz. My White Falcon sounds awesome through this channel. This amp has plenty of clean headroom but also can break up niceley too. The Bassman side breaks up earlier then the Twin side (vintage channel) due to the nature of the Bassman circuit. This amp takes pedels well. They sound good through this amp. This amp begens to sound its best with the volume around 4. Use input 2 for either channel if input 1 is too loud as input 2 is a -6db noise reduced input so for home use this amp is fine. Use the guitar volume knob to control the volume from there. This is by far the best sounding clean amp I have ever purchased stock, it has several cool features built in for the modern player but its not over engineered and still very simple as to preserve the tone circuits on either channel. This really is a fantastic amp at this price I got mine for around $1300. Remember it starts to really sound good with the volume around 4. Start there when you demo it.

I had this amp for a few months now and I'm running the Bogner red and blue in the custom channel. They sound just glorious at bed room levels and high volume at 4 or so! Cleans with a Strat sound just great in the custom and vintage channel. Reverb and Trem work just as advertised, very nice! Speakers once have a few hours on them with my dirt pedals are really sounding great now, I did change the preamp tubes right a way with a Gold lion in the v1, v2 JJ 803 and 2 NOS Jan phillips AT7s in for the reverb and PI slot, it brought out the definition a bit more and clearer sounding. I use to change my amps once or twice a year over 6 years just looking for that perfect drive channel but since I went to this pedal platform im completely happy with this setup! The speakers are a great match, I worried at first though, but once I put some loud hours on them there perfect. I did play a 70's vintage one at high volume and then going back to mine 2 days later I was still very satisfied with mine:) I think some people can't dial an amp in, one guy on the boards said it was harsh and sounded awful! haha completely opposite, just keep the treble at 5 or a tad less with pedals at low volume. I did get some loud static noise when changing some preamp tubes like in the v4 and I never had a problem like that. Someone recommended some Deoxit to clean my tube pins and reworked them on all the tubes and its just fine now, maybe parts sitting in Mexico is causing oxidation?

Fender is reissuing silverface amps? Now I've seen everything! In all seriousness, these amps are part of my DNA, lugging a Super or a Twin silverface to jams and practices. Candidly, I have not played this amp. But, adding reverb and tremelo to the "Normal" channel (why didn't they do that back then?), and adding the Bassman circuitry option will clearly make this a big seller. My bell-bottoms are already hyperventilating.
