I like this amp so much I bought two - for stereo effects. Believe it or not, these replaced a Mesa Lone Star Special and THD BiValve I've had for years. Tubes are as much trouble as ever: they hiss, crackle and blow; the amps are heavy, costly to buy and maintain; and their sound is limited by their specific tubes and speakers (a Twin will never sound like a Marshall, for example). But amp modeling is better than ever. I've played for 50 years, through tube, solid-state, and modeling amps (Line 6 Flextone) and software amps (Waves GTR, SansAmp). The truth today is you can only tell the difference between real tubes and models if you're that snobby tone guy who's determined to prove that he can.
With the Champion 100, Fender has put it all together.
Features: Just what you need, and nothing you don't. A clean channel, a modeled channel, excellent effects, and plenty of power.
Design: A big THANK YOU to Fender for styling it as a classic Fender - you can't beat that iconic look and functionality. THANK YOU for NOT screwing it up with a USB port, software, presets, a tuner, or LCD screen. THANK YOU for keeping it pure.
Ease of Use: It's the classic Fender control layout, so it could not be easier to use. No confusing buttons, switches, or screens. Just like volume and tone, modeling and effects are controlled by knobs: twist 'em where you want - you can see where they're set. Duh.
Sound: The clean channel is a shock to hear for the first time - the pristine sound of a Fender Twin. And it stays clean turned way up. I won't vouch for the models sounding like the real amps. That's a pointless exercise. But this amp easily got a distorted sound as sweet as the Lone Star, and tons of great sounds (including clean) the Lone Star couldn't touch. Remember, modeling gets the tubes AND the speaker sound of the modeled amp, so the sonic palette here is broad.
Value: It costs less than many boutique stomp boxes.
So, goodbye tubes. The Champion is here.

So... I was going to buy the Champion 100 but I had a few problems.
1) I entered my favorite music store after seeing this amp on the internet, reading the reviews and watching the videos on youtube. It sounded good until I got to the store. The guy who was in the store was turning on the power on the amp for me to try it and it short circuited. I couldn't take it that day.
2) I went to a different store, and they let me try the Champion the had. When the amp was taken out of the original fender box, it didn't have the grill cover. They let me try the amp anyway, but I got disappointed. The clean channel was fine but the voicing channel was no good. It had lots of mid's. The blackface and the tweed look like the same and it is not loud enough for the 100w it is suppose to have. I love fender but I got disappointed with this.
Still it's a nice amp for the price and good with pedal boards on the clean channel.
My main rig consists of a vintage Twin Reverb and a big pedal board. This is usually a major pain to carry to rehearsals, and at tough to squeeze on small stages.
I needed an amp that would:
B. Have decent built in effects to save stage room that would normally be taken up by my big pedal board.
C. Be loud enough to be heard over a heavy handed drummer.
D. Be affordable.
This amp was able to cover all of the bases in what i was looking for. The clean sound is great, exactly what you would expect from a Fender amp. The 2nd channel let's you dial in different amp voicings, from Fender Tweeds and Blackface amps, to British amp and metal voicings, to clean jazz voicings. The amp did sound very stiff at first, but it may have just been the speakers breaking in. The sound is a lot better to my ears now. This amp will handle pedals great. My overdrives, delays, and modulation pedals sound great through this.
The built in effects also sound great and many of the generally used effects can be found. Each channel also has it's own control of effect. (You can go from a deep reverb in the deep channel and switch to a hard overdrive with some delay at the push of a button or with the included footswitch.
With 100W of power behind it, this amp is versatile enough to work in all kinds of environments and stages, from backyard gigs, bar rooms, clubs, garage practices, bedroom levels, arenas (if miced up), you get the idea. I love the sound of my main rig, but this is loud enough and sounds great enough that i'm comfortable with it to use for practices, and small stages.
There are two things i really wish this amp had... 1. an On-board Tuner! In my opinion, this is a big oversight. 2. Effects tweakability Via usb with the FUSE software like the GDEC and Mustang amps.
All things considered, 100W amp with all the features and effects packed in this amp, it's a really great deal for starter or pro players!

This amp is just awesome. I needed to get a new amp, and I tried out quite a few of them. When I got to this baby I fell in love with it and bought it right away. Took it home and played for hours. It even sounds great with my pedals. Fender just makes the best products. I highly recommend this amp for any style of music. Try one out.

I recently bought this amp to replace my Crate V32. I'd been having constant repair problems with the Crate and simply got tired of the cost of maintaining a tube amp. While I love the sound of a tube amp, its expensive to upkeep.
I have to say that I was blown away by the performance of the Champion 100. The clean channel is very clean and perfect for my pedal board. I like the sound of the amp models but I use the overdrive channel as simply a clean boost. And it works perfectly for that.
Overall, the tone of this amp is very good, with plenty of volume for clubs. It sounds great mic'd. Its an extremely easy to use amp. I bought it on a Saturday afternoon and only had a few minutes to play through it in the store. I gigged with it that night and it did not let me down.
This amp is very well worth the money and its very reasonably priced, putting it in a price range for anyone to be able to afford a reliable, great sounding guitar amp. I would recommend this amp to any guitar player.

The Champion 100 is my favorite solid-state guitar amp ever. It can create many different tones and flavors and still get that warm sweet tone of a tube amp.
For the price I paid for this item, it is also the best value amp I have ever bought.

Got this Champion 100 amp because I couldn't get tube amps to give a sweet tone, or have a decent tone stack irregardless of them being tube. This amp has great models and has a great clean channel. Chorus effect is nice and the distortions are very usable. I’m very happy with it even though its price might make some think it shouldn't sound so good: it in fact does. Fender has done a great job on bringing us this gem of an amp. Effect loop and footswitch are cool features and the amp takes pedals very well. It is a loud 100 watts, and the speaker’s rock. Overall, having played the multitude of usual suspect amps the Fender Champion 100 gets 5 stars. I can’t wait for the head and 4x12 cabinet to be offered.
