A few years ago, I was looking for a strat to add to my collection. The specific set of options I wanted was 3 single coils no humbuckers, decent build quality and a vintage style fatter neck that was still comfortable to my hand.
I was pleasantly surprised by the value of this guitar for the price. I bought it as a practice guitar intentionally, but it's good enough I'd play gigs with it too. I put 11s on it and the Tex-Mex pickups get a great fat strat sound with very good highs and are very vintage sounding with slightly extra kick and were a pleasant surprise overall. Blues and country and classic rock players will love the tone of this guitar alike.

I've owned my Jimmie Vaughan Strat for almost 3 years and it has become my main guitar out of my 30 guitars and that includes 8 Fenders. I tried several Strats when I bought my Jimmie Vaughan and had budgeted for a ceiling of $3,000. Of the 9 or 10 Strats that I tried the Jimmie Vaughan was about the lowest priced but I ended up picking it because it was the one that spoke to me.The Tex-Mex pickups have incredible tone and are very responsive with a well balanced tone with neither the lows mids or highs overpowering one another. The overall sound of the Jimmie Vaughan is very close to that of my "L" Series '65 Strat and that's what sealed the deal for me as the "L" series Strats are my favorites for tone. The V-neck takes a bit of getting used to if you are accustomed to C or D necks but it doesn't take long to feel right at home with it. All in all the J.V is an exceptional guitar and is especially suited for classic rock and blues but I'm sure that with the wide tone spectrum it covers, it would be perfect for just about any genre of music.I wholeheartedly recommend the J.V. as the main guitar for anyone as its fit and finish are of as outstanding quality as the sound and playability.

I just bought this sweet honey Candy Apple Red Jimmie Vaughan Tex Mex Strat and it sure lights things up! The V neck is very comfortable and the Tex-Mex pick ups really smoke. Great addition to my collection of Strats and highly recommended to all players looking to add a little versatility to their sound. Terrific value for the money as it sounds and plays like a Strat costing twice as much.

The V neck on this guitar makes it play great for someone who is used to playing larger necks. Electronics and finish were great as well. I have owned this guitar for over 5 years, play it weekly at practice and at gigs, and it is still in great shape.
