Simply put, this guitar is great. It's as good if not slightly better than the '65 reissue Mustang (modern radius, jumbo frets, Duncan designed sc101s recessed switches etc.,). What made me get this guitar was the price, $300 bucks for an authentic Mustang! Just the way I like them, I know I said the '65 reissue costs too much, and I still think it does, but it definitely doesn't bother me as much with this guitar around. The only reason I gave this guitar a four in tone is because my Mustang came with a ground wire error and can be slightly lacking in sustain sometimes, particularly with the tone rolled down. My other guitar is a Gibson SG, so it's not a fair comparison being opposite guitars, but they are my two favorites and compare quite closely in terms of quality. That Indonesian factory has been making some great guitars, long live the inappropriately named Vintage Modified series. I say that because they don't seem modified, but don't misunderstand me when I say that, that's a good thing. If this guitar came out with two humbuckers and a three-way switch that would have sucked I would have been very disappointed. Thank god the new Jag Jazz and Mustang in the VM range are the real deal. Keep it up Fender and Squier. zyhis VM Mustang is a great start for a bright new chapter for Squier making some Fender level guitars.

I recently got this guitar in sonic blue. I am in love with this guitar, this guitar isn't for everybody, I play Grunge, Punk, and Garage. My style is nirvana, queens of the stone age, very grungy and punky, and trying some noise like nirvana and sonic youth and this guitar is perfect for me. After playing my jaguar it kind of feels weird since the body is smaller. I never use the whammy but I use my hand to move the whammy a little. I love the floating bridge. The mustang and jaguar are my perfect guitars. If you're a traditionalist and love the strat and Tele then this might not be for you. If you like odd guitars and weird stuff like sonic youth, mudhoney, nirvana, qotsa then this for you. This guitar plays amazing, sounds amazing. This, my jag and Tele are what i write on. When you get that perfect guitar that matches your genre, your stage presence, and is you musically it is something wonderful. Those three guitars make me feel like a grunge/punk musician. I dont know how to describe the feel to this and my other two guitars, this is a special guitar.
