I have owned many basses over 40 years. This is now my favorite. I replaced the standard round wound strings with Thomastik Jazz Flats, set the neck relief and string height and now have the best playing and sounding bass I've ever owned. The active eq allows a huge variation in tone. The neck has a satin finish that feels great. The finish in vintage white is flawless and gorgeous. Do not let the reasonable price and Mexican build concern you. This is a beautiful, quality instrument.

This is a MIM bass which the sound can be adjusted to be like the American one. First adjust the pickup blend a little bit towards the neck one, then add a little bass (with the active eq it's easy). That's it. The active eq is very interesting to achieve many different sounds. It's versatile.

After years away from home recording I jumped back in and needed a do it all bass. I played a few models but the Deluxe Active Jazz Bass stood out in terms of tone and versatility. It has the classic J-Bass tone but the active electronics allow you get tones that a standard model simply cannot achieve.
I've found I can get the right sound for virtually any style with this fanatic bass. As an added plus, the vintage yellowed finish looks insanely good.
I love mine and would recommend this bass without reservation.
